Can anyone recommend any vitamin c serum or really any thing that can help with brightening that's good and gentle? Over a year ago, I made a mistake of using a high percentage tretinoin and let's say my skin barrier was compromised for a long time. Now it left my face and neck different colors and would like to try somehow making it even again. Any help is appreciated, thanks 💚

Brightening serums and other tips

So I've always used tinted sunscreens but I think it is finally the time for me to use non tinted as my skin is also getting better. I've been interested more on Japanese Sunscreens because of the controversies happening. Now I know that it may be a late kind of news and it doesn't happen to just Korean sunscreens, but I just noticed a lot of people are going more Japanese Sunscreens nowadays (at least based on the other skincare groups I am in). Aside from that I never really hear much from them and they kinda look alike 😅 packaging wise and all. Any recommendations that are also hopefully fragrance free?

Another question, exactly how much sunscreen Filters should our everyday SPF have? I know different filters have different limitations to UVAs and UVBs and all those. But is at least 2 enough to protect our skin? Or should we just focus more on its formulation? Thanks

I'm not that knowledgeable in this and there was a sunscreen I'm looking at, and frankly I think it's soothing and all but I don't know if octinoxate and titanium dioxide will protect me enough?

Sunscreen Filters

Hi guys, I always know excessive sun exposure is bad. But at the same time I know our bodies also need Vitamin D. It may sound a little stupid but how long exactly do we have to stay out to get Vitamin D without having side effects? (Sunburns, tanning, etc.) I usually just don't reapply sunscreen as I'm always inside, but when I go out I reapply at least 2-3 times.

 Recently I got a checkup the doctor said I'm showing symptoms of vitamin D deficiency but I apparently forgot to ask about this question to him which is why I'm asking. Thanks in advance for the answers 😊.

How long is too long?

Hello everyone! It's been some time that I've been gone from Picky and I just wanted to know your thoughts and opinions about shaving your face/Dermaplaning. From what I know it has a lot of mixed reviews which is why I am contemplating whether to do it or not. For example some people said that it's better to oil the face before doing it while others state it should be done on dry skin. Or it gave small bumps/irritation and etc.

For background:
I have been on tretinoin for probably 8-9 months and I've been noticing no improvements these days. Also if I use anything tinted in my face I would notice it would settle into dry patches and some peeling skin no matter how much I try to prep or exfoliate. 

My current skincare routine is

1. Lohacell Save Me Cream Foam Cleanser 

2. Lohacell 5.5 Starter Treatment with AHA, BHA, PHA (it is very runny and is like a toner, I only use it 1x-2x a week) 

3. Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence

4. Tretinoin 1% (2x-3x a week)

5. Azelaic acid 10% 

6.Altruist Urea Dry Skin Repair Cream

7. Nuderm Sunscreen 

8. Missha BB cream 

Skin Type:

Sensitive, oily , acne prone

Face Shaving: 👍 or 👎

It can last very long on the lips and it does a really good job. It helps smoothen my lips and I loved the berry smell. Overall, I don&#39;t really have any complaints aside for the price.

It is too small for the price you pay 🙁

This feels very moisturizing, every time I wake up in the morning my face feels so smooth, supple and glowing. So far it is also the only moisturizer that controlled my peeling skin, despite trying it with other moisturizers in day time. It doesn&#39;t feel tacky, it is a little hard to spread and leaves a white cast but after a while it will be absorbed anyway.

The cleansing balm smells great but the smell is very overpowering. Luckily my skin didn&#39;t react badly to the smell.

It&#39;s actually pretty good in cleansing the sunscreen on my face. It&#39;s also cheaper than most cleansing balm that I ever used.

I think it just brightened my skin and not necessarily lightened, but that&#39;s fine with me.

The scent is mild and really does smell like milk. It didn&#39;t irritate my skin and it really did soften. It also lasts quite long and isn&#39;t sticky.

I Just think it is a very simple soothing gel, it&#39;s tacky to layer but is also too light on the skin that I have to keep reapplying. Also it isn&#39;t fragrance free as Picky says because the last ingredient is well, Fragrance. Overall it&#39;s a cheap decent soothing gel but I&#39;ll probably not buy it again. Just not for me.

This is actually very affordable and easy to find online, aside from that it is refreshing to use. It&#39;s a decent soothing gel and has some good ingredients on it.
