Favorite Vitamin C Serums

So far! Not only does vitamin C help with post acne hyperpigmentation, but in my experience it has aided in my acne healing quicker and leaving less pigmentation behind. If you didn’t know, often times retinol and vitamin c interact with one another, so if you’ve had a reaction to vitamin c products, that could be why. A lot of people can handle one at night and one in the morning. I personally have to switch off what I’m using day to day because my skin is overly sensitive, so I don’t use them at the same time. However I included one product that featured both ingredients on this list. I was able to handle all of the products listed here by skin cycling and balancing when I’m using products so they don’t interact. I also have dry leaning and overly sensitive skin for reference!

Vitamin C Serum

As someone with dry leaning skin, having a lotion based Vitamin C option was so fantastic to find! I highly recommend this. It is on the higher end of percentage (20%) so it may cause irritation if you aren’t used to Vitamin C. However you can use a smaller dose that in my video, and you should be okay as long as you build up a tolerance to it. I like what it looks like in the picture, it did not feel sticky at all. I was really impressed by the glow it gave my skin, and that glow lasted! So this is a great option if you’re looking into getting some dewy or glass skin.

Product was gifted for free by Benton Cosmetic in exchange for my honest review. (Not sure why but Picky actually deleted my review, so I’m reposting what I uploaded before.) As I said in the video, I was really impressed by this lotion based vitamin C serum! I’m someone who has dry leaning skin, so I adore lotion based serums like this to really lock in that moisture. Especially in the winter months. I honestly could probably have gotten away with less because of how creamy of a formula this is, but my skin was able to handle it without irritation (and my skin also runs sensitive, and it can freak out easily with certain ingredients). My skin is usually overly sensitive too. This is hands down the most moisturizing vitamin C serum that I have tried. To be honest, I prefer vitamin C serums over creams. I’ve found they work even better at treating my post acne hyperpigmentation, especially when they’re at a higher concentration like this one. I was happy to find a product that was a hydrating serum option. I’m really impressed with how well this helped speed up the healing process of my acne. I highly recommend this to others looking for a Vitamin C option! Especially if you are acne prone or have acne scars you want to help heal up. Vitamin C can help the healing process and with scaring left behind by acne. Just be sure to balance use if you are using other actives like retinol or acids, because when they are mixed improperly, they can cause reactions in your skin. It’s all about balance.

Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum

This was my first introduction into gel based serums. This is one of the formulas I meant when I said I’ve had vitamin C serums help with redness left behind by acne and had my acne clear up faster. It’s a lightweight gel option that really made a difference in how my skin looked, even at a lower percentage than the last one. If you want to try a gentler vitamin c option, I say give this one a try.

As someone with dry leaning skin, this was a super hydrating gel serum. Not only that but I adore that this serum didn’t leave behind a sticky feeling residue either. Plus I felt that it helped with the redness my skin can get left behind from acne. I also liked that it didn’t have a strong dcent either. I cannot suggest this enough!

No.5 Glutathione Vitamin C Concentrated Serum

Before the Benton serum, this was my favorite moisturizing option, so I highly suggest this to people who deal with dry leaning skin like I do. It’s a milky vitamin c serum, and I felt that this one was hydrating.

Product gifted for free by Numbuzin and the Picky app in exchange for my honest review. I absolutely adore Vitamin C serums. As someone with acne, I’ve found that they can be incredibly helpful in fighting hyperpigmentation left behind by acne. This serum did a fantastic job of that. Plus I’m someone who has dry leaning skin, and I found that this serum was nice and hydrating. It didn’t leave my skin feeling sticky at all, and I appreciated that it didn’t have any strong scent at all as someone with fragrance sensitivities. This is one product and brand that I will definitely be suggesting to friends.

Miracle Vitamin C Serum

This one was a nice and gentle option that I enjoyed. This one was more of a lightweight option that I think would work for more oily skin types.

Product gifted for free by Dewytree in exchange for my honest review on the Picky app. I was pleasantly surprised by the ingredients in this formula! Of course the main star being vitamin c to help combat hyperpigmentation. But it also features turmeric to help with inflammation. It also features hydrating ingredients such as niacinimide, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, and glycerin. All of which my dry leaning skin appreciated. Thanks to these ingredients, if I accidentally didn’t get to my moisturizer afterwards (sometimes I get distracted when I let my serum soak into my skin), I didn’t wake up with any dry patches like I sometimes can with less moisturizing serum formulas. This wasn’t overly sticky, and it didn’t have an overly strong scent. Definitely recommend this one to others.

Vitamin C Brightening Sun Serum SPF50+ PA++++

This one is unique because it is also an SPF! Probably my most recent favorite. I loved the unique texture and how it didn’t feel sticky. I also love that there was absolutely no white cast with this SPF.

I received this product for free from Picky and COMMONLABS in exchange for my honest review. As always: products like this one need to be re-applied every two hours to properly protect you from the sun’s rays. On to the good stuff! I was so amazed by the texture of this one. I’ve tried other sun serums and essences that are white cast free like this one. But I was still impressed by it. As soon as you apply it, there is no whiteness to blend out. I love how lightweight it was, and even though it is a jelly texture, I didn’t find it to be sticky. Even as a serum, I also found this to be a hydrating enough option that I didn’t need to layer a cream on top of this product. It may be thanks to the hyaluronic acid in the formula. Speaking of ingredients, the obvious one on the front of the packaging is vitamin C. This product features unique vitamin C capsules that break down as you rub it into your skin. It also features niacinamide, and the two ingredients are fantastic at helping with post acne hyperpigmentation. I’ve actually found that keeping Vitamin C in my routine can help prevent acne in the first place, so it’s one of my favorite ingredients to keep in my routine. I really enjoyed how this product left my skin feeling. I deal with dry leaning and overly sensitive skin and I was able to handle this formula. I tend to also have fragrance sensitivities, but the scent was light. Probably because I prefer fruity scented skincare. I would say that this one leans on the lemon/lime citrus scent profile, and didn’t smell like chemicals or cleaning supplies in my opinion. There also wasn’t any stereotypical SPF scent that a lot of us grew up with in the US. So that’s another thing that I appreciated about this sun serum. If you’re looking for a new formula to try out this summer, I highly recommend this one.

Vitamin C Brightening Ampoule

If you want an affordable and water based serum, this is for you! I think this is another good option for people with oily leaning or acne prone skin. It’s super breathable and has a similar texture to toners.

I received this product for free from Picky and COMMONLABS in exchange for my honest review. This product features 70% vitamin tree water (what Americans know better as sea buckthorn). It’s an ingredient meant to help with skin irritation. The citrus scent of this product wasn’t too overpowering in my opinion, and didn’t smell of chemicals or like a cleaning agent. It smelled like a pleasant lemon/lime. If you’re looking for a lightweight Vitamin C treatment, this is a great option since it is a water based ampoule. The texture doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy at all, and I found that it absorbs quickly. I found that my overly sensitive and dry leaning skin could handle this formula, even though I can also see this working for people with oily and acne prone skin. This also features niacinimide, to help with post acne hyperpigmentation along side the vitamin c in this ampoule. I also found that this helped my acne my acne heal up. To be fair I’ve found this with other vitamin c formulas as well which is why I often suggest products with that ingredient to others. It works really well for me, and so did this product!

I received this product for free from Picky and HANSKIN in exchange for my honest review. If you’ve seen my channel I’ve talked about how I tend to prefer retinol serums like this one. For some reason my skin tends to handle them even better than creams (maybe it’s because the dose is lower). However I also love the fact that this serum is a cream based option with multiple oils, so it’s nice and hydrating for my dry leaning skin. I chose not to use it on the same day as the retinol cream from this line, and that way my flaky skin was kept at bay. This is a 0.1% pure retinol, meant to be gentle ‘starter’ formula for people who are new to the ingredient. For those who don’t know, retinol not only can help with fine lines and wrinkles, but it can also help with acne. One of the leading causes of acne is dry skin build up (which I definitely get), and retinol helps promote skin cell turn over. I ended up starting retinols in my mid twenties due to my acne, and I definitely see a difference since introducing retinols. Something I noticed immediately with this product is the fact that it features vitamin C as well. Usually, that ingredient is not suggested to be put together with retinol (especially when mixing and matching products in your routine if you have sensitive skin), but I found that the ingredients complimented one another in this formula. This being a unique product with both ingredients means it is a great formula for not only helping with fine lines and wrinkles, but also helping with preventing acne and helping with post acne hyperpigmentation. It is free of silicones, artificial fragrance, and sulfates. What you may smell is not overpowering in my opinion, and I have a sensitive nose. The scent comes from the essential oils in the formula like bergamot and orange peel oil for example. Overall I was really happy with the texture of this, it is a rich creamy formula. As long as I didn’t mix it with acids in my routine (like AHA’s, BHA’s, or PHa’s), and I wore SPF when I went out in the sun, my skin ended up enjoying this formula.
