Correct skincare application

So I’ve seen we should go from thinnest to thickest but I’ve also seen we should go by ph ? Which is right? does ph only apply when using vitamin c for example? Should vitamin c be first and then toner and the rest?

Vitamin C absorbs best at lower pH, so it's better to apply it after an exfoliator, not as a first step. Or as a serum step if you don't use an exfoliator in the same routine. Apart from Vitamin C (pH ~3.5) and exfoliating acids (AHA, BHA; pH 3-4), most of the other actives have pH similar to our skin (~5.5), so you don't have to worry about them much.
