Experiencing Excessive Hair Fall in the Shower - Normal or Concerning?🚿

Hey everyone, I've noticed something concerning happening when I shower or simply run my fingers through my hair. Every time I do, about five strands of hair end up in my hands without me pulling or tugging. It's been happening consistently, and I'm starting to wonder if this is normal or if I should be concerned. I've never experienced this level of hair loss before, and it's been going on for quite some time. I'm curious if anyone else has faced a similar issue or if there are any tips or advice on what I could do to address this. Should I be worried about this level of hair fall, or is it within the realm of normal? Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated!đŸ€”âœš

I lost more than HALF my hair after each child I had. I'm not sure if there is a difference between straight and curly hair but I lose quite a bit each time I detangle (I am Curly). Has anything happened to you recently? Perhaps your diet has changed? I would suggest seeing your doctor to see if there is something they can do to help.

Wow, I can't imagine how tough that must have been losing so much hair after having children. It's interesting you mention the difference between straight and curly hair shedding, and I've definitely noticed a similar issue, especially when detangling in the past. However, even after cutting my hair short, it's still falling out quite a bit even without detangling. It's hard to pinpoint the cause; I've been considering stress from school, but it happens even during breaks. My sleep schedule isn't the best, and while I try to eat healthy, I do have moments of craving soft drinks and sweets. It's all a bit confusing, honestly. Have you found any specific remedies or practices that have helped you manage this shedding issue?

Yeah the hair loss when pregnant is scary until you realise you actually didn't have that much hair to begin with!! Pregnancy is crazy!! If you're really worried just ask a professional for help or a family member - no doubt they may have some experience too.

Are you eating well and balanced, are you not stressed or lacking sleep? Water can also affect hair and lack of vitamins.

Thanks for your input! I try to maintain a balanced diet, but I admit there are moments I give in to cravings. Stress might be a factor as I'm juggling school, but even during less stressful times, the shedding persists. My sleep schedule could use some improvement too. I'll definitely focus on staying hydrated and ensuring I'm getting the right vitamins. Have you found any particular vitamins or dietary changes that have helped you with hair health?

Me too, simply brushing my hair and I see so much hair loss! I do think that stress, lack of sleep, irregular showers, wrong hair products (shampoo/conditioner), diet change (I drink less water) and constantly passing my fingers through my hair are all possible causes for this. You should check if any of the causes I mentioned could possibly be causing your hair loss. For reference, I have thin long wavy hair.

I haven’t found yet any shampoo or conditioner that works for my hair but I have tried Pantene’s ampoule and a few hair masks and they work well! I have tried oils to revive my hair and I have seen hair growth around my hairline. You could try, 2-3 times a week on a specific spot, castor oil, coconut oil or almond oil or even a mixture of all oils but castor oil is a must, it really boosts hair growth and my hair roots (along my hairline) are stronger. And I have stopped using hair straightener or any heat devices on my hair and I only use scrunchies for my hair. And I don’t do tight hairstyles.

1)Have your vitamins/minerals checked. Probably , over the counter multi vitamin tablets would do 2) check your hair porosity and use shampoo and conditioner accordingly 3) If it’s hair thinning then may be check with Dermatologist for the reason

Thanks for the suggestions! Getting my vitamins and minerals checked sounds like a good idea, and I'll look into some over-the-counter options. I hadn't considered checking my hair porosity before, but I'll definitely explore that and adjust my hair care routine accordingly. If the shedding continues, I'll consider consulting a dermatologist to delve deeper into the issue.
