Mineral/hybrid sunscreen so good, it beats chemical ones

Here's the thing : not many people will opt for mineral sunscreen because of the whitecast they leave on the skin. But mineral sunscreen is the safest choice when you have sensitive skin. They feel comfortable while providing enough shield. That being said after knowing the mechanicals of how different types of sunscreen works..at the end of the day the idea of chemical filters absorbing heat as a shield against the UV rays makes sense on why, even with sunscreen on,no actives on my skin, it still gets inflamed in some occasions. My country is sunny almost all year round, but this year feels typically sunnier.. So please share some good mineral sunscreen that you have tried which is better or on par with chemical ones. (I have my own list, but I think there must be better ones out there)

Actually, both chemical and physical/mineral sunscreen absorb UV rays. Physical/mineral sunscreen only reflects 4-5% UV while the rest are absorbed and then transformed into heat. This has been debunked many times by scientists and proven by this research paper here https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26431814/ You can also refer to Lab Muffin's video here https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSYMvVRVM/ which summarised the above research paper or read her article here which explains it more in depth https://labmuffin.com/how-much-uv-does-a-real-mineral-sunscreen-absorb-and-scatter/ It is true of course that mineral suncreen is often times more suitable for sensitive skin, but it's not because it doesn't absorb UV, since it actually does absorb just like chemical sunscreen.

@mirmi I don't blame you because a lot of people still don't know about this eventhough the study was published back in 2016. And it doesn't help that a lot of videos out there still mention this outdated fact. Even a Google search would still show articles and images saying that mineral reflects 😮‍💨🤦‍♀️ As to why it might feel more soothing, I think it's most likely because of the zinc oxide. Besides being a stable UV filter, zinc oxide is used in baby/diaper rash creams and medicated ointments because it helps prevent and treat skin irritation like burns, cuts and diaper rash. It forms a barrier on the skin to protect from irritants. It has good healing properties which is probably the reason most mineral sunscreen feels soothing to the skin. I haven't tried enough mineral sunscreens myself, so I can only recommend the Klavuu Vegan Zinc and Dr.G Green Mild Up. The Klavuu is a tone-up sunscreen and has a peachy-pink tint. This is better for those with lighter skin tones and prefer a more dewy finish. I haven't opened the Dr.G yet but it is in my stash. It's one of the most popular sunscreen in Korea for many years and always in the top 10 of their various beauty awards ranking platform. It's said to have a matte finish and minimal white cast.

As someone with sensitive skin, my skin always develop redness after sunscreen. There’s only a handful of sunscreen that cause zero redness on me. I have been using mostly hybrid sunscreen (chemical + physical sun filters) of more recent formulations and they have been all working well! You can filter the review to sensitive skin only, it’s the most efficient way to find out the probability of irritation. I have been loving :
