Hi! I have visited a dermatologist before (~3 years ago)  to treat my acne issues, and since then it has gotten a lot better. He introduced me to many  prescription products like an AHA-based face wash, benzoyl peroxide, differin and clindamycin that I wouldn't have come across otherwise, so I found that particularly valuable. 

However, it is a bit expensive, so I stopped once I managed to get my own supply of these topical treatments. I also started to read up on skincare and incorporate products into my routine like moisturizer and sunscreen which my dermatologist did not really mention. 

But here's my question: Have you visited a dermatologist? How was the experience? What's the value of dermatologist as compared to reading up on skincare and using commercial products? Were your problems resolved, and would you recommend the experience?

honestly, nothing much to complain about. 

been using this facial cleanser for years now and it's been a very effective part of my anti-acne regime. first prescribed by my dermatologist, I've since pretty much only used this for my face wash

- proven anti acne ingredients: aha
- but still not irritating or damaging to my skin
- effectively counters acne
- no fragrance 



a little bit of an alcohol smell but doesn't affect me personally and my skin doesn't dry up at all from using this. 

Relatively little white cast compared to other japanese sunscreens and feels super light on the skin for the amount of protection it offers (spf 50+ pa+++, which is a lot). Gets quickly absorbed, and doesn't dry my skin either as it's moisturising.
