BHA Salicylic Acid 4% Exfoliant Serum with Niacinamide

product review positives
[Description] as per Cos de Baha's site Salicylic Acid takes some time to absorb and act on the skin, so it does not show immediate effect. But once it's absorbed into the skin, it's more powerful! It not only solves our annoying acne problems, but it also has antibacterial effects to prevent pimples in advance. Key Ingredients: •4% salicylic acid •niacinamide •aloe •green tea ✅no fragrance ✅no alcohol ✅no sulfates ✅no silicone [Texture] There is some viscosity to this formula, so its absorption rate takes a bit longer than a more watery product would. But I rub it in (sometimes this makes it go a bit white foamy), then tap it in for a few seconds. It will remain feeling a bit surface, a bit tacky, but carrying on with the rest of my products fairly soon after does not seem to affect its efficacy. [Price] I can typically find this around $8 USD to $10. It's surprisingly affordable for such a potent product. It may seem like a small amount at 1 fl oz, but I use one drop on my forehead and two drops on each side of my face. I have a bigass face, so you may not need as much product as I do. [Usage] I apply this serum after every cleanse; twice daily. My skin is oily, acneic, and most problematic on my jawline as well as underneath my jaw. I get large, very deep cystic acne that I'm certain is due to hormonal issues. My skin is also very tough to high percentages of AHAs (chemical exfoliants). [Results] I love, LOVE this acne treatment. I will always use this product, I will always have backups. I have never felt irritation, nor has there ever been any visible dryness nor redness. I'm aware BHA is also an exfoliant, but for me, it's in my routine as a hormonal acne treatment. It has very significantly reduced the number of cystic pustules I used to experience, and even when I do have one form, it's gone in a matter of days. These used to be around for weeks and be painful and leave huge, dark scars. I still end up with scars from all acne I get, but they are much smaller since using this S4 Serum.
product review negatives
⚠️I think if you don't know your skin well enough to know how a product of this strength will react, I don't think I could safely recommend it to you. Certainly start with 1% BHA first, like the Isntree BHA toner. Then you can move onto 2%, like Paula's Choice 2% BHA exfoliators, or Isntree Chestnut BHA. If you know your skin does well with BHA, and if you're at a true loss with what to do with hormonal acne like I was, give this a try. Give it a few weeks, more if you start slower in usage, to really let it take effect. One last slight negative is the lavender flower extract and Damask rose extract. I'm not sure of their percentages, nor what their specific purpose is in this product. If they neutralize any chemical smell, or if they're to be soothing, I'm not sure. But it's such a small intredients list that these two feel kind of unnecessary.
