It was a little messy when washing off, but not more so than other charcoal masks. It won't deter me from repurchasing.

This was my favorite part of this 4 step mask.
The charcoal mask was creamy and easy to spread on my face.
Once it was dry, I could actually see that it pulled gunk out of my face. 
My skin looked cleansed and refreshed after use. I didn't feel any tightness, even though it definitely detoxified my pores
