Peach Glow Makeup Base
I purchased this product and was excited to use it because I had heard good things about it. Not to mention it was pretty cheap. I had been looking for a dewy or glowy primer to wear in the winter and thought I’d try this one out.
This primer boasts a pearlescent glow with a hydrating effect due to the peach and lychee extracts. The limnanthes alba seed oil forms a moisture barrier on the skin to keep the oil-water levels balanced. The primer also claims to help to make makeup last longer.
Thoughts about the product: I used this product for about 3 weeks before ultimately throwing it out. Upon opening the product, I was hit with an overwhelming scent of excruciatingly sweet and artificial peach. That should have been my first red flag. I can handle fragrance, but this was on the same level as someone bathing in cheap perfume.
As for application, the primer was extremely sticky and patchy. It felt like I was spreading jelly on my face. Application was uneven and enhanced my skin texture to the maximum. The finish though? It was alright once I rubbed it enough onto my skin. Unfortunately the product just sat on my skin and never really absorbed.
I wondered if the primer didn’t absorb due to my skincare routine, so I used less products in future applications but that didn’t seem to change anything. I used a variety of foundations to test the primer: liquid, cushion, and powder. The primer worked best with the cushion foundation but not by much. All three foundations were split/patchy within a few hours.
Overall thoughts: I am not sure why this product is so popular. The fragrance is sickeningly strong and feels like putting honey on the face. It left my face feeling extra oily and broke up all my foundations. I can’t believe I used it for three weeks. I rate this product 1/5.
