Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder

product review positives
As a combo-oily skinned gal I honestly thought this product was going to change the game for me (spoiler - it didn't)!!! I've seen SO MANY people absolutely rave about it - it's honestly such a unique product and it's claims are also insane Firstly, I love the packaging - it looks high-end and it's the perfect component for this type of product. It's shallow enough and the pan is wide enough for brush and sponge use, and it also has a spatula applicator for hygienic application so you don't have to dirty the product with your fingers/brush. I have shade 1 (described as fair with neutral undertones) which is true to description and is an OK match for me - slightly on the light side (which makes me wonder who this is actually meant for as I'd consider myself one of the palest people). It has a flexible coverage, which means it works really well as a multi-use product - Danessa myricks suggests it can be used as a primer, foundation or even contour. It's also extremely easy to apply with a brush, sponge or fingers and melts into the skin
product review negatives
Now for the real tea... 😜 I personally don't love the smell and I find it horrendously off-putting. To me it smells like liquorice/aniseed which I don't especially want to smear all over my skin. I also personally don't enjoy how it feels on the skin. It applies like a balm but I find that it doesn't set down fully so it looks and feels a little greasy on my skin. This makes me wonder how so many people with oily skin love it - as I can't think of anything worse than starting with a greasy base. On application, I also don't always get an even result. It can look very blurring in some areas but also overly emphasises texture and fine lines in other areas. I've tried to use this as a primer (better) and a foundation (not great) - but as I've said it's patchy and clings to random areas on my skin. Overall it just looks like a slimy mess and I've given up finding ways to use this product
