product review negatives
Skin type: fair to light Skin issues: rosacea, eczema, dry skin and oily t-zones I’ve been suffering with rosacea, eczema for the last six years. If you don’t know much about rosacea it’s when your skin is red and causes visble blood vessels around the central part of your face, nose and cheeks. It also causes bumps that look like acne but are actually a form of rash that is itchy, irritating and can leave scars. If you get a flare up it can last for a week to months. The flare ups (redness, rashes) can be so bad you have to take a round of antibiotics for a month to calm it down😭. Flare ups of Redness and rosacea rash can come from eating certain foods that are spicy, sunlight exposure, alcohol 🍺 and various cosmetic products especially those that contain alcohol, Witch hazel, Menthol, Camphor, Peppermint, Eucalyptus oil, Fragrances, and Propylene glycol. Even though I have done a lot of research web trying to find out what ingredients cause flare ups it’s different for each person. So what I do is when I get a new product I test a small section of my face before i apply the product all over, to see if I have a reaction or not. Cetaphil cleanser is actually one of the products that my Dermatologist recommended for me. It says it’s for all skin types, on the back it even says for even the most sensitive skin. Unfortunately, knowing what I know now I look at the ingredients of products even if they are recommended for me by a dermatologist. Cetaphil contains alcohol which is horrible for people with dry skin or rosacea. I used Cetaphil cleanser for a few weeks I should have stopped after the first week. Being naïve I thought that the The dermatologist wouldn’t recommend a product if she didn’t believe in it and she also wouldn’t recommend something that cause me any more issues. It was one of the worse products I have tried. It felt like it stripped my face from all moisture, it caused dry patches and also caused a bad rosacea flare up.It was so bad I didn’t want to leave my house and putting on foundation or any product to cover it up just made it worse. I made my final appointment with that dermatologist and she then prescribe me doxycycline 100 milligrams twice a day, for a month. My face did clear up after a month of taking doxycycline, and I found a new dermatologist. I gave this product a 1/5 star because I feel like it’s very misleading and not meant for people with sensitive skin as it claims. I would not recommend Cetaphil for people with sensitive skin, dry skin or people with rosacea. If you are suffering with rosacea I would love to know some products that have worked for you.
