Madagascar Centella Soothing Cream
I received these products for free from Picky and SKIN1004 in exchange for my honest review.
The brand is pronounced “skin one oh oh four”, also known as 천사 (cheon-sa) which means Skin Angel.
My favorite thing about this product is that fact that there was no strong scent to the product. I also love that a little bit of this product goes a long way. As someone with dry leaning skin, I can definitely say this left my skin moisturized in the morning. I didn’t wake up with any dry patches or flaking, which is usually my basis for saying if something works for dry leaning skin.
Key ingredients in this formula include Centella Asiatica/cica, which is fantastic for a damaged skin barrier (so for both people with dry leaning skin or those that deal with acne, and I deal with both), which makes up 72% of the formula according to the ingredients list. It also features glycerin to help your skin maintain moisture. I think because so little of this cream is needed, it could also compliment more oily leaning skin.
The texture. The first time I used this I definitely went in with too much product. When I tried it again and cut way back on how much I was applying, it still felt like I applied too much. You probably only need one pea sized amount of this for your entire face (which is a small amount compared to some other creams on the market). I went in with double that amount on my first use because I have dry leaning skin, and often need more moisturizer than the average person. It ended up being way too much product, even when I applied some on my neck and elbows. Going in with just a pea sized amount was better, but still left my skin feeling tacky and sticky, which I was not a fan of. When applying this to other areas besides my face, this still left a sticky residue on my skin which I am not a fan of.
I’m not a fan of skincare products that feel sticky to me, which is why I had to give this product a three out of five stars. The texture just wasn’t to my liking. I also felt like this wasn’t as hydrating for my dry leaning skin as some other creams that I’ve tried out recently. It’s meant to offer a cooling sensation upon application, and I didn’t really feel that. Outside of the cool temperature of the cream as you’re applying it, the cooling sensation didn’t last in my opinion. I’ve tried other cooling creams and felt the creams cool down my skin instantly, but I didn’t experience that with this cream. It does feature peppermint extract which can cause cooling, but it didn’t smell of peppermint in my opinion.
