I feel like for the long term hydration game this essence is lacking. Two hours into my day I am looking for my skin to look and feel hydrated, anything less then that isn’t really working the way it should be. I also had a crazy week of my skin being dryer then I have ever seen it. Flaky, dry and irritated because of it. 

The texture of this essence is very wet, closer to water then a gel. It feels cooling,  refreshing on the skin when you first apply. I do find it takes a bit longer to absorb into the skin, possible because it is so wet but also possibly because it just isn’t absorbing.

I was interested to see the makeup brand, Hourglass, is breaking into the skincare game. Usually when makeup brands do this they start with a primer and then expand from there. Most of the time when you see brands make this leap, they aren’t always successful, so I jumped into testing this out without much excitement. 

For an essence, I look for one that gives you an intense long lasting level of hydration. Essences will also help the preparation of your skin for the serum(s) you’ll use after but that isn’t something that you can always notice. I’ve found this essence give an immediate short term hydration boost. 

The packaging is nice, very sleek and pretty. Love how its just white and silver.
