Let me start by saying I am no skin expert, but I have a really good dermatologist.

I have tried quite a lot of product from different brands. In fact, I had a phase where all I did was try new products, every week I had a new one — whether it was toner, an active, a moisturizer or an SPF, I HAD TO TRY IT. It came to a point where I had a something-teen step skin care routine. Needless to say, my skin freaked. 

Of course I ran to my dermatologist all red, patchy, itchy and raw. She asked me what I did “this time”, I said I used so and so. She told me to ditch it all, and handed me a tub of urea cream (from her clinic), and a tube of LRP Cicaplast Baume B5 — one for the morning and one for the evening. She told me to apply them while my skin is still damp. And so I did. Just those two, with an SPF in the morning. It only took 2 products and 3 days to fix what several months worth of several products messed up. 

Point of this post, I keep seeing people asking what else to add to their pre-existing skin care routine to fix their freaking out skin. NO, please stop adding more. Do not add anything more. Grab one reliable moisturizer like La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume (or whatever works for you) and use just that.

Has anyone tried the Illiyoon brand? What’s is the difference between the Ultra Repair Cream, and the Ceramide Ato Concentrate? Which one is better? What other moisturizer can either one compare to? Is it worth trying out?

Hi, I’m new here and I’ve been seeing everyone rave about The Ordinary’s Reservatrol and Ferulic Acid. But the twice that I tried it, my skin would turn red, becomes raw and on the third day my skin is patchy, raw, itchy and obviously irritated. It takes weeks before my skin calms down, I use the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baum to fix the mess I made on my face.

My routine: A moisturizing toner, if not I go straight to using a serum, The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid serum, then I put 2 drops (one on each cheek) The Ordinary’s Reservatrol & Ferulic acid, then my Bioderma Atoderm Baum if not First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair cream (depending on how my skin feels that day), then Squalane facial oil and sunscreen. 

What am I doing wrong? I would very much like to incorporate this antioxidant into my skincare routine but it doesn’t seem to agree with me. Either that or it’s just too strong of an antioxidant (if there is such thing). I’ve read numerous reviews with nothing like I’ve been experiencing with this product. 

Help please? Can you share your routines incorporating this product? How can I use it?

The “Best” Antioxidant? The Ordinary Reservatrol and Ferulic Acid

Can anyone recommend the best, most effective retinol in the market today? 

I’m 34, and starting to show signs of crows feet (on my left eye). I have done botox in the past but would like to avoid too much. I am currently using The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 2%, this product has helped a lot in terms of hyperpigmentation and smoothing my skin out, but not too well with fine lines.

I am currently on the hunt for a more effective retinol/ Retinoid. I would very much like to hear about the products you’re using, your experiences with them, and suggestions/ advice would be very welcome. Thanks!

Best Retinol Product

I honestly cant think of anything bad about this product. I suppose if you’re really that oily with resillient skin, you’d find this a little too thick is all. Otherwise, i love this.

Hands down obsessed with this product. I live in the tropics, with a really oily nose and dry skin prone to blackheads and flareups. This works wonders for me, i can layer it without any problems. This is my day time moisturizer, and when my skin acts up i run to the La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5.

I suppose if you dont want your face looking greasy, this balm is thick. Though i enjoy thick balms, and dont mind my face “greasy” looking. Quick fix to that anyway, simply powder around the t zone and the areas you dont want looking greasy. Other than that, i freaking love this balm!!

This has got to be my favorite product, the very best of them all. This guy fixes my skin after every flare up, or when i use a new product my skin doesnt agree with. I have backups of this and i refuse to leave&#47; travel without this. I seriously swear by this one, it is magic in a tube.

According to the website it’s supposedly a 10 in 1 product. Such high claims I find. I dont know if its because I’ve only been using this for a week, but i havent seen any notable difference. 

I’d also like to point out, there is a strong alcohol scent to it. Considering alcohol is the 2nd ingredient, i shouldnt be surprised, but the sent is just so strong. Im not even sure what this product us supposed to do, TBH. Thinking of repurposing it into a body toner instead.

Decided to try this, as it has been everywhere since forever. Saw it was on sale, so i snagged a small bottle to try out. Its been a week, so far it hasnt caused my skin to flare up, nor cause any irritation.

I honestly have noting bad to say about this product. I suppose the only complaint i had is that I’d go through those bottles really quick. Thankfully they came out with a 280ml one!!

This was the very first product i tried with COSRX. Probably one of the very best decisions i have made, ever. This is magic in a bottle.

The texture is watery, hence they used a spray bottle for this. While it may have AHA and BHA, it did not sting my eyes, or my eye area. I would just spray it on, and tap on damp skin until its been absorbed. I follow this with my favorite moisturizer and SPF. 

It only took me a week or two before seeing any notable change. My skin has never looked so good. It somehow managed to make my pores look smaller, and my face was glowing. This is hands down one of the best COSRX has come out with. 

When i found out they came out with bigger bottles, I had to grabe me backups!!

If you’re one to weat thick makeup, and waterproof mascara and lippies, i wouldnt suggest this product. It doesnt remove thick, waterproof makeup very well. I’d think you’d need to oil cleanse twice or thrice if using this.

This is my everyday first cleanse. Ive stopped packing on makeup since the pandemic and have been using BB creams, or just concealer (on good skin days). I use this as a my first cleanse for light, barely there makeup days. It removes light makeup, and sunscreen well
