I have been suffering for big and painful pimples because of my hormones and the constant wearing of surgical mask/respirator at work (Hospital). 

I want to ask my fellow Picky Squad on your recommendations for spot cream that targets big and painful acne.

P.S. my current spot cream is Oxecure Acne Clear Powder Mud but I want to try new products because I think that its efficacy wears off already since the first time I used this (btw, I used this currently for about 6 months already).

📈Con’s: It a fact that lip gloss and lip balms are not that long wearing so take note of that. Also if you are not into using multiple lip products at once, ypu may find it heavy to use if your are layering your lip makeup.

👋Helpful advice: Lipscreens is not commonly in use here in the Philippines so I am very happy that a local brand is raising awareness in giving protection to our skin by the use of sun products. This line from Sunglow by Fresh is really affordable and caters to Filipinas that wants that fresh look but at an affordable and reasonable price without comprising the quality.


💠Name of product: Sunglow by Fresh Tinted Lipscreen
Type of product: Lip gloss sunscreen
Texture: glossy, oil-based

📈Pro’s: Sun protection in our lips. I think that this part in our face really suffers from intense sunlight. The lip product is not heavy when applied and you can actually use this as a blush if you have dry skin type. Actually, the three shades which are Sangria, Very Berry  and Sunkissed are very pigmented. 

Whenever I use this product, it really gives moisture to my lips since I have very chapped lips. When I feel like I want to use a gloss and protect my lips from the sun, I usually reach for this.

📈Con’s: The things that I noticed with this is the price range and the packaging. Ellana Minerals is a local brand that is catered for sensitive skin and are derma-recommendes products. This may be the reason why their prpducts are at the high end. Also, almost all of their packaging for their primers is contained into this sachet packaging which I sometimes find good and bad. Good because it is travel friendly while bad because it may not be sturdier and may cause leak if not put carefully in the right storage.

👋Helpful advice: One word: SUNSCREEN. This product is highly recommendes for those who have sensitive skin and wants to find a primer that can cater their skin needs. This primer from Ellana really boosts sun protection with making your skin look brighter. But I think that this primer may still be best used with those with Dry to Normal skin type. I am a fan of the products from Ellana Minerals and I am still using their products until today. 

💠Name of product: Ellana DD + CC Daily Defense Color Correcting Makeup Primer
Type of product: Primer or base
Main Ingredients: Camellia Tsubaki Seed Oil
Texture: Cream-watery like, easy to glide

📈Pro’s: This is used as a makeup primer or a color correcting cream for your makeup base. You may notice firsthand is that this product is not thick and you cannot feel the silicon plastic-like from the usual primers that hey usually have.

When first applied to the skin, you can notice that it can easily glide into your skin but you may be surprised at first since it immediately gives off that white cast but upon spreasing it into your face, it gradually blends into your skin. I noticed that whenever I use this as my primer, the makeup base that I use allows it to glide better and look more naturally into the skin. One of the best things in this primer is the high concentration of SPF. It has SPF 30+++ UVB + UVA Broad Spectrum protection so you can be assured of the sun protection.

📈Con’s: As of the moment, I can only comment about the simplicity of the packaging. They can improve the packaging to make it more pleasing to the eyes of the customers.

💠Name of product: Celimax: The Real Cica Soothing Cream
Type of product: Moisturizer
Main Ingredients: Cica, Madecassoside, Niacinamide
Texture: Whitish-cream like to gel texture

📈Pro’s: This product was given to me by Celimax to try on. At first glance, the texture of the cream is not heavy upon application. You can feel that its substance can go from gel to watery like when applied into the skin.

When applied to the skin, it easily absorbs the moisturizer. No stinging or redness after application. As an oily to combination skin type, I am cautious when it comes to moisturizer since it may give my skin too much oiliness but this one, no additional oil and the fact that this is gel to watery like cream, it gives off the skin a fresh look.

Upon using it for 2-3 weeks, I experienced hormonal breakouts and this really helped calm my skin and reduce the redness. Since the main ingredients mentioned above helps with those with sensitized skin, it really helps my skin to manage my redness.

Con’s: The only thing I noticed with this product is the confusing packaging and that the mask dries up pretty fast so if you have dry skin you might feel that the mask is not moisturizing.

👋Helpful advice: This product from VT Cosmetics is one of the skincare products that I will really use since I am first introduced in the skincare world, I am scared of using masks because they might be too oily for me but when Picky sent this to me, I am surprised. This product is made from the Cica and prioritizes to soothe the skin and to strengthen the moisture barrier. This really helps my skin to breathe and to lessen the redness of my skin. I also noticed that this reduced the size of my bumps. Until now, I am still using this product every night and upon waking up, my skin feels moisturize and does not leave my skin too oily. If you are fond of using sheet masks and you want to reduce the use of single-use packaging of sheet masks, this  product is perfect for you.

👋 Another advice: The PAO is only for 2 months only.

Texture: Soft-tissue like mask, soaked in essence

📈Pro’s: This sheet mask is one of the products that oily and sensitive skin type will love. When I first received this package from Korea, my first impression just from the packaging is that the product screams Cica because of the color green and its minimalist design. I was confused of the packaging because the case is made out of hard plastic then at the bottom it has a thin plastic foil-like cover. If you will not try to double check the covering of the sheet mask, you will open the product wrong. Though, the packaging is good since you can recycle the use of the box and you can reseal it again after use so that the product will not dry out. They also included tweezers so that when getting the sheet masks, you will not get it by your hand. 

Upon opening the sheet mask, there is a clear plastic cover then the sheet masks is layered soaked with the essence. The sheet mask is not that thick and the mask is full of the essence. There is no overuse of fragrance of the masks and the masks are not that sticky at all.

In the first week of using this, I saw the results since while using this I am on my monthly period so my hormones are not balanced so my skin is very sensitized. I have several bumps on my cheeks and forehead that are slightly big as seen in the picture. After using the sheet masks every night for 7 days, we can seen that the bumps are relatively smaller and that the redness in my face are reduced. I also noticed that my skin is moisturized and it does not give my skin the appearance of being too much oily. 

📈Con’s: The only thing I noticed with this product is that the patch stick on well but if you put it on then it is moved with for example an eyeglasses (since I wear eyeglasses in work), it might displace the patch.

👋Helpful advice: Pimple patches is one of the products that many people wants to buy since it is very convenient to use. But some pimple patches tends to be easily removed if you have an oily skin or might be displaced because of other factors. But as for this product, I can easily say that their Cica Care patch is one of the good patch in the market today.

Type of product: Pimple patch
Main Ingredients: Cica
Texture: transparent, hydrocolloid patches

📈Pro’s: There are 3 sheets of the spot patches with different sizes and this makes it flexible for the different sizes of my bumps or pimple. At first use, you will notice that the diameter of each patches is relatively in different sizes and they are encircles again with another sheet. You can notice that you can directly put the pimple at the center so that the pimple can be centered to the patch with the Cica ingredient. 

When used under makeup, it blends well to the skin and it not noticeable even after applying makeup. This patch is also not painful when removed because I tried many different brands and kinds of pimple patches and almost all of them are painful when removed. Some patches are also easily moved in the skin specially if you have an oily skin type just like me but this one really sticks on well.
