Extra Eye Repair Cream
Texture: When first opened, the eye cream looks like a thick, solid beige-colored balm. The first few days of use was just me repeatedly rubbing my ring finger across the surface to get it to melt and pick up enough to dab on my eye area. But after googling photos of this particular Bobbi Brown eye cream, I began to wonder why the texture shots on their site looked way creamier. I finally mustered the courage to press down on the center, and it gave away to reveal the creamy white product underneath. Um… Okay.
Experience: So once I got to the good stuff, it was fairly smooth sailing. Still did the rubbing technique, this time on ring finger and thumb, before applying. (Warming it up is the recommended method.) The dab-on feels nice. Not sticky nor greasy. There’s even a mild cooling sensation that lasts a couple of minutes. I did notice, however, that there are some tiny bits of undissolved product suspended in the cream that feel slightly gritty even after the warming up is done.
Effect: I don’t expect eye creams to work miracles as I’m aware of the many contributing factors to puffiness and dark circles, like genetics or lifestyle habits. That being said, my criteria for effectivity comes down to hydration levels and any incidence of irritation (stinging, goop-forming). In this case, my undereye area feels sufficiently hydrated and I did not develop excessive eye goop upon waking up. Instant effect upon application is a temporary brightening that lasts several minutes. Perhaps partly due to the dabbing massage motions.
The issues with texture are off-putting especially for a luxury skincare product, but the actual eye cream performs well enough.
