Hi all,
When the nice people over at LA based skincare brand Kimtrue offered me the chance to try some of their amazing looking products, I was over the moon! I wasn't able to try their products before but I've read so many good things about them, so you can imagine my happiness, right? 😉
I received two of their cleansing products, the Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm with Bilberry & Moringa Seed Extract and the Amino Acid Gentle Facial Cleanser. I will get to the Cleansing Balm later on, probably in my next review but first, I wanna discuss the Amino Acid Gentle Facial Cleanser.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧?
Like most Amino Acid Cleansers, this is a mild and gentle cleanser. Most Amino Acid Cleansers don't foam that good and that much, but thanks to Kimtrue's cutting edge liquid crystal treatment, this one will give you a richer foam while still being gentle, mild and skin friendly and without containing SLS or any soap based active ingredients. It also contains Geranium Oil, Oat Glucan, Tremmelam, Portulaca Oleracea Extracts and Yeast Extracts and promises a gentle cleansing while still deep cleaning the pores and removing light make up, sunscreen and dirt. It also promises to soothe and repair the skin.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠:
This Cleanser arrives in a sleek and neat looking white matte plastic squeezable tube with all relevant info mentioned on the back (although it's unreadable for me because it's in a foreign Asian language, Chinese if I'm not mistaken. The clear plastic wrapping surrounding the plastic tube does contain a sticker with all relevant info and directions on how to use it in English, but unfortunately, that isn't really practical, since the plastic wrapper is meant to throw away) and a white cap, which gives it a clean and modern look and feel. The tube feels comfortable while holding it, thanks to the matte finish. To prevent overflowing, the tube isn't filled completely. 30 to 40% of it will be empty, but it still holds 100g, as labeled. The cap makes it easy to dose the product (after you give it a good hard squeeze) and is hygienic to handle and you only need a small amount so it's quite longlasting too, concidering you'll receive a tube that's almost half empty.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭:
The first thing I noticed, apart from the tube not being completely filled, is that heavenly scent! One of the key ingredients in this Cleanser is Lemon Peel Oil, which gives it it's delicious and refreshing smelling citrus scent. Lemon Peel Oil is also known for being an antioxidant and it delays skin aging.
𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥:
As mentioned before, you have to give the tube a good squeeze to get any products out of it, but when it's out, you will see a light, creamy, lotion like texture, almost like yoghurt. When water is added, the light and creamy texture turns into a nice, rich foam. While washing my face, I noticed that the foam feels soft and comfortable on my skin. It does a good job at removing light make up and dirt, as promised, but it also makes my skin feel a bit tight and dry after washing. I feel like while it sure feels moisturizing and nourishing on some parts of my face, it still isn't moisturizing enough for the drier parts, like my cheeks and cheekbones. Although it's advertised as being suitable for all skintypes, I believe it's more suitable for oily skin, instead of combination skin, like mine. I also think it's not really recommended for people with dry or very dry skin, since it will not be moisturizing and nourishing enough for their skin neither.
However, I must admit that my face was feeling quite soft, smooth and clean after using this Cleanser. And my skin looked clean, plump and healthy. It's really gentle too, as promised, I didn't experienced any irritations after using this Cleanser and while my face was feeling a bit tight though, it didn't really felt that uncomfortable, my skin didn't really felt completely stripped, just a bit dry and tight. Nothing a good moisturizing cream can't fix! 😉
𝐌𝐲 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Do I recommend it? To people with oily skin I would say yes. I think oily skin could really benefit from this Cleanser but to people with combination skin or dry skin, I would say no. Unless you're prepared and ready to apply a good layer of rich, creamy, nourishing moisturizer afterwards! Would I repurchase it? Unfortunately, no, I don't think so, because it just isn't what my skin needs right now. I do love the ingredients, the lightweighted texture and that amazing scent though! I also love that it doesn't contain sulphates, parabens or soap based active ingredients which may be too harsh on the skin and that it's sustainability focused. Good for your skin and for the environment, that's all we need! 😊

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Despite the minor flaws I experienced, I still rate the Kimtrue Amino Acid Gentle Facial Cleanser 4 stars, because of the heavenly scent, the enjoyable texture and the way it makes the more oily parts of my face look and feel after using this one.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬:
The Amino Acid Gentle Facial Cleanser isn't moisturizing and nourishing enough for the drier parts of my sensitive combination skin and the tube is not filled completely, which feels like a bit of a waste of plastic (coming from a brand that claims to care about the environment, that's kind of a bummer to me) and money, since it's quite a large tube. However, it does contain 100g, as labeled though, so you actually get what you're paying for.
