Laboratories Cica - Rescue Skin Paste
This is an occlusive paste/balm with cica which is supposed to reduce redness. The star ingredients are Centella Asiatica (Cica), Panthenol and Bisabolol, which are great ingredients for soothing and repairing the skin barrier. These come in a petrolatum base, which is excellent at keeping TEWL at bay.
My skin profile: Combination, dehydrated, rosacea and Malassezia prone. High levels of skin congestion.
Malassezia (fungal acne) safe: No.
I had applied this paste on my face before the bedtime and in the first 30 seconds I started feeling a hot flush which dissipated after a few minutes. My skin felt nice afterwards but I do not know whether to attribute this to the star ingredients or the petrolatum.
The packaging is very nice and gift worthy. The product comes with a spatula for easy application. I personally liked to use my hands to spread the paste but some people might appreciate that tool.
If you live in the UK you can find this product at larger Boots stores and on their official website. The product for £17.95 at the time of my review but you can find it at less than half the price on Ebay.
The product made my skin irritated and red for the first 30 seconds due to Phenoxyethanol since I am sensitive to it.
I do not recommend it for inflamed and hot to the touch skin, as it can trap the heat and further aggravate the irritation. For this reason I resorted to using this as a thick balm for my elbows and dry feet.
I do not recommend this product during the day for people with oily skin.
Quite expensive.
