Tako Pore Bubble Pore Pack
Before using this mask, I had only ever used one bubble mask before, and it was a bubble sheet mask, so honestly it was kind of a weird first experience. I remained intrigued, however, by the idea of a charcoal bubble map, because the combination of these two things seemed like they would really suit my skin type. Charcoal is known for absorbing impurities, especially in acne-prone skin, and bubbling features help gently removed debris from the skin's surface, ensuring it gets extra clean. For someone with oily skin and acne, like me, I'm sure you can see why this would be appealing! This bubble mask features charcoal and both bentonite and kaolin clay, ingredients that absorb excess sebum from the skin. Glycerin is also included to help moisturizer the skin and thus prevent all of these oil-absorbing ingredients from being too drying and stripping the skin.
I'll admit that the extremely cute packaging is what first attracted me to this product. The top of the Tako is just a screw lid. The bottom is where the actual product is, sealed in with a removable inner plastic lid, which prevents excess oxygen from entering the container and causing the product to bubble prematurely. Although the container looks small, it actually goes pretty deep and a little bit of mask goes a long way, so it's a better value than it looks. I've been using my one jar for several months now.
The texture of the mask in the jar is rather mousse-like. When applied, it mixes with oxygen from the air and visibly begins to bubble. It's helpful to work quickly when applying because it does immediately begin to bubble when it meets oxygen! I leave it on until most of the bubbling stops.
I like to use this mask when my face is feeling congested, which winds up being about once a week. It washes off cleanly and my skin feels soft and less clogged afterward.
It does have a mild, sort of powdery fragrance to it. When washing it off by splashing water on my face, I find that the mask residue can leave unfairly spots of gray water on my bathroom counter and in my sink, which I think have to clean up.
It isn't as powerful at decongesting as other masks I've tried that contain clay. I think the glycerin prevents it from leaving that really clean feeling.
