✔️ our skin switches to the repair mode &  it focuses more on recovery , regeneration & the production of new ( keratinocytes) skin cells than protection, skin barrier is weaker now & it’s permeable . 


✔️ Permeable barrier means things can get in or out . 
so of course there is a higher  absorption rate & at the same time there’s an increase in Trans epidermal water loss ( loss of skin’s water content) & increase in dryness 


✔️ The higher absorption rate explains why we shouldn’t sleep with makeup on! . The barrier is permeable meaning it’s likely to absorb most of the ingredients in makeup & the pollutants trapped in makeup . This is why we should never sleep in makeup. Wash your skin with the double cleansing method to make sure your skin is so clean at night . 


✔️ At night it’s important to focus on hydrating & moisturizing products to limit TEWL as much as we can . plus focuing on products that offer treatments & repairing for skin like retinol 


✔️ Good sleep quality is necessary for skin’s DNA repair , Exposure to artificial light at night decreases melatonin levels  & dysregulate the the skin’s circadian rhythm which affects the skin repairing process  over time & accelerate aging

what happens to our skin at night?

Skin’s circadian rhythms ( natural processes & functions ) Are changes in skin’s functions that follow a 24-hour cycle & they are mainly affected by day & night . light & dark


✔️ Understanding how skin changes throughout the day, help us use skin care products at their most effective times 

Part (1) our skin in the morning : 

✔️ During the day ( starting from sunrise) 🌕🌝
your skin switches to the protection mode ,  it works hard to protect itself

✔️ The rate of transepidermal water loss (TEWL) is lower, your skin’s doesn’t loose water content during the day as much as night because during the day it produces more oil to make a film on skin that strengthens the barrier to protect you from pollutants, irritants & free radicals. 

✔️ So you shouldn’t be stripping your skin during the day by using harsh cleansers or exfoliation . by doing this your skincare doesn’t work in harmony with your skin’s need . 

✔️ during the day your skin faces too much stress protecting you from pollution, irritants , uv rays & free radicals, so it’s important to use antioxidants & sunscreen to support your skin’s function at this time 
✔️ it’s not the perfect time for trying new products for two reasons : 
(1) your skin is already stressed during the day as  it’s protecting you 
 (2) your body’s cortisol levels rise up at morning , high levels of cortisol makes skin more sensitive & reactive so it’s likely to have a reaction from new products . 

✔️ skin absorbtion is lower at the morning . the protection mood & the strong barrier during the day time makes skin less permeable so maybe you can not layer many products as in the evening. At morning just focus on the important & basic products ( wash with water or gentle non stripping cleanser , don’t exfoliate, use antioxidants, sunscreen, and a good moisturizer to support your barrier function )

what happens to our skin in the morning?

✅ Ingredients to use & ❌ ingredients to avoid if have active acne  

(1) These ingredients should be your best friends: 
Centella, snail , beta glucan, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, mugwort, green tea , facial oils high in linoliec acid ( Squalane oil & rosehip seed oil ) , Niacinamide, ceramides , antioxidants, urea , gentle sunscreens , 

(2) Use these ingredients wisely & carefully ( low concentration  , low frequency) : 
Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, 
Lactic acid , retinol, glycolic acid, vitamin c (ascorbic acid ) 

(3) Avoid these ingredients as much as you can : 
Fragrance, essential oils , denatured alcohol, strong & sensitizing chemical filters ( avobenzone & oxibenzone ) , strong sulfates such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate , physical exfoliants ,

Wish if it had a longer shelf life , it lasts for 6 months only

✔️ It’s one of my favorite cleansers so far 
✔️ It cleanses pore so well &amp; it’s Very effective at reducing breakouts
✔️ It leaves a nice smooth feeling after washing my face 
✔️ For me it’s not for everyday use . 
I use it twice a week only , everytime I try to increase frequency a little bit , my skin gets a little bit dehydrated. 
✔️ Make sure you hydrate &amp; moisturize your skin so well after it 
✔️ For sensitive or dehydrated skin , it’s the best way to incorporate salicylic acid in your routine to reduce blackheads &amp; breakouts. Just make sure you’re not using it everyday 
( A wash off product is more gentle than a leave in one )

✖️ not suitable for dry skin ( or you can use another moisturizer after it ) 
✖️ contains bergamot oil , limonene and linalool 
( in low concentration) but it’s better to patch test specially if you have sensitive skin . Honestly I have sensitive skin &amp; I haven’t experienced irritation from it

✔️ contains 72% Centella Asiatica leaf water 
✔️ centella asiatica has anti inflammatory &amp; anti-oxidant properties, helps with wound healing , increases moisture in skin by stimulating hyaluronic acid production. 
✔️ contains 10% tea tree leaf water which provides antibacterial properties &amp; contains Niacinamide which has brightening properties

✔️ good for morning routine only , at night it’s better to apply another moisturizer or a facial oil otherwise it won’t do much to reduce water loss which increases at night 
✔️ it reduces redness in my skin , but if I have irritation or itching feeling , it doesn’t do much

Rosehip Seed Oil for skin : 
✔️ It’s a non fragrant plant oil that has antioxidant properties 
✔️ It’s a natural source of vitamin c : helps with acne marks , signs of aging &amp; sun damage 
✔️ Also it’s a natural source of vitamin A which helps with skin cell renewal &amp; even out skin tone 
✔️ aimproves elasticity &amp; reduces TEWL 
✔️ It’s loaded with fatty acids : 
It contains 
44% linoleic acid
14% oleic acid 
which means it’s great for oily acne prone skin as it won’t clog pores . ( linoleic acid makes sebum more liquidy, so sebum can easily flow out of the pore without getting trapped into it ) 



My experience :

✔️ doesn’t clog my pores  , didn’t cause me any breakouts

✔️ I was using it as the last step in my exfoliating routine , after my moisturizer ( twice per week )

✔️ It helped me so much when I suffered from dehydrated skin , it provided a very good occlusive layer above my hydrating products &amp; it reduced the evaporation of water out of skin which made my skin looked plump , brighter &amp; hydrated

I’ve read so many good reviews about this cleansing balm but unfortunately this didn’t work for me . 

First 
It contains two essential oils :    Rose Geranium Flower Essential Oil  &amp; Ylang Ylang Essential Oil  , They’re number 9 &amp; 10 on the list ,  so they’re not that high concentration but the cleansing balm has a strong smell that my sensitive skin can’t take it . 

Second 

Ethylhexyl Palmitate : it’s the first ingredient in it ( very high concentration) &amp; it’s so comedogenic ( It causes clogged pores &amp; acne ) 
Every time I try to use this cleansing balm for a few days ,  I  start to break out really badly from day 3 .

It does a great job at removing makeup &amp; sunscreen but I don’t recommend it for sensitive acne prone skin
