So, since I have rosacea and it’s recommended for me to use mineral spf’s, I’m on the hunt for some good ones. 

The only two I have are the Versed Gaurd’s Up Tinted SPF and the PURITO Comfy Water SPF (but I’m doubting it’s SPF rating after the study that was done with the PURITO Centella SPF) 

What are your favorites and why?!

Mineral Sunscreens with no white cast!

I’ve been looking for a hydrating toner that would be good for sensitive skin (rosacea) 

Does anyone recommend this one or have another one that they prefer that’s fragrance-free? Does it smell like roses lol?

This SPF doesn’t provide sufficient sunscreen protection since its only UV filter is Titanium Dioxide. 

In order for a mineral sunscreen to be effective and protect against UVA and UVB rays, it needs to also contain Zinc Oxide. 

Titanium Dioxide does protect against UVA (aging) sun rays but only the UVA short rays, not the long UVA rays which can be more damaging. 

I feel like this has been falsely advertised because its labeled “broad spectrum” and if people dont understand which UV filters are necessary for adequate sun protection, they could fall victim to thinking this may be enough.

When I first put it on, I thought I had somehow misread it and bought a chemical sunscreen because it felt just like a chemical sunscreen when applying. It was easy for me to blend in and felt light and hydrating.

I instantly went back to my phone to look it up and was shocked when I saw that it 𝘸𝘢𝘴 a mineral sunscreen! 

(Because is you’ve ever used a mineral&#47;physical spf, you know how they just feel different... usually more chalky and harder to blend in)

I instantly wanted to try this on my fiancé since he’s black and I was excited to see if this would be a mineral spf that would work for him. I even tried it on my friend who’s skin tone is kinda in between both mine and my fiancé’s. 

They both said they didn’t notice a white cast on themselves and just noticed a little bit of a glow and a hydrated look. 

It feels lightweight and hydrating, and I love how the ingredients are perfect for my sensitive skin, especially since there’s no fragrance or alcohol in it, and with rosacea, I have to stay away from those.

Overall, I like this sunscreen and like that I can purchase it at a store near me. However, it doesn’t quite disappear in darker skin tones and I think it’s too expensive for the small amount given, and it can feel a bit grainy.

This is a tinted physical&#47;mineral sunscreen  with a natural radiant finish. Its fragrance-free, oil-free, cruelty-free &amp; vegan &amp; the packaging is made out of 79% post consumer recycled plastic.

Texture: It feels like a really thin almost watery&#47;milky consistency. It doesn’t feel chalky like the way most physicalsunscreen do. It’s quite viscous, so you could apply a little at a time, or do what I do (threefingermethod) and work it in on your face and down your neck FAST!   

I think it works best for light- medium tones. I have seen it work on some darker skin tones, however, if you see the test I did on my fiancé, it definitely left the hand i applied it on looking dull vs as warm-toned as his other hand. 
It could work well under make-up if you have darker skin since the foundation would cover it, otherwise- if you want to try it out, as long as you keep the receipt from Target, you can return it if it’s not too used.

At first I didn’t like this, because I was comparing it to more elegant chemical sunscreen formulations. However, I tried it again recently, and enjoyed it. 

I would purchase again just because since I have rosacea , Ive been looking for more mineral spf’s to avoid irritation that chemical sunscreens may cause with people with sensitive skin.

So I initially hated the texture of this product because I thought it was way to thick for my preference since I have sensitive oily skin and I live in a hot area. 

In the summer, when i used it- it felt like it was sitting ok top of my skin for at least 30 mins. After that, I wouldn’t notice it anymore and my skin felt soft and it helped reduce my oiliness. 

I decided to save and ise for the winter and now that I’m using it again, I’ve noticed that it doesn’t feel moisturizing when I use it (and I always moisturizer on damp skin) 

It feels drying and I’m thinking its the Hyaluronic Acid working against me in my dry climate and drying my skin out. Will not repurchase. 

May be good if you live in a humid climate.

Let’s talk about it’s ingredients! 
Hemp Seed Oil is the second ingredient in this product which just shows the quality of this because a lot of brands that claim to have hemp seed oil in their formula, usually only include a very low amount. Hemp-derived cannibas sativa seed oil is a great ingredient for locking in moisture and hydrating your skin. 

This moisturizer also has a soothing peptide complex of vitamin B5 (to keep skin soft, smooth, and healthy), hyaluronic acid to help retain water and keep your skin hydrated and niacinamide to help reduce sensitivity and irritation, regulate sebum production to balance out the skin and reduce dark spots and pigmentation. 
And also high up on the ingredient list (as the fourth ingredient) is gylcerin which is a humectant that draws in moisture form the environment into the skin! 

So as you can see- this is a very hydrating formula.

I have combo&#47;oily skin with rosacea and I didn’t experience any irritation with it. The only time I did, was if I was rolling around in bed with it on or rubbed my eyes- then my eyes would feel irritated and water up for about 15 mins. 
 
I’ve heard the SPF 50 is even more irritating around the eyes so that’s why I tried out the 30.

Also- i havent experienced it, but my cousin who has a darker medium-tone skin says when she sweats that she notices the product turning white on her face.

I got this because I was looking for a drugstore SPF to try out that didn’t have a white cast. 

Let’s talk about it’s ingredients first: 
This is a chemical sunscreen with broad spectrum UVA &amp; UVB protection.  It’s  primary chemical filters are: avobenzone (2.5%) Homosalate (8%) Octisalate (5%) and Octocrylene (8%) 

It’s 2nd ingredient is silica which is used in skincare as a formula thickener and to help improve the absorption of other ingredients. Some silica formulations can help absorb oil and swear and improve spreadability as well. 
It has “C12-15 alkyl benzonate” which is also a texture enhanced that gives a conditioning silky feel to it as well as dimethicone which gives it that primer like feel.

So although I don’t have acne, this is Neutrogena ‘s best selling, oil-free sunscreen and was one of the only drugstore sunscreens that I could find that I heard didn’t have a white cast. 

With this sunscreen it’s a hit or miss. It seems like generally- the majority of people love it (even those that claim they have super sensitive skin) 

It does feel lightweight and you can see how it applies on both dark and medium-light skin tones in the second and third slide. It gives off a glean at first but dries down matte. 

I would recommend this if you want a drugstore no white-cast formula and if you don’t have sensitive skin or very dry skin since this has a matte finish. 
It’s $10.99 for 3 oz which is a lot cheaper than a lot of the K-sunscreens so definitely an affordable option.

Although this product doesn’t have any artificial fragrance, the eucalyptus, clove, sesame, eugenol, and limonene are all natural fragrances that can be sensitizing. 

I didn’t notice any irritation,personally, and I have sensitive skin. 

As far as the smell goes- I never really noticed it when I was using it. It wasn’t until I started seeing other reviews (mostly on Target.com) where people were saying they thought it smelled like Vick’s Vapor rub?! 
I don’t think so at all- and I feel like that’s quite dramatic considering I didn’t smell it at all until I really tried to stick my nose in it. 

I haven’t tested this out to remove makeup, so im not sure how it performs with that and it doesnt emulsify very well.

I purchased it at Target for $17.99 (2.3 oz) they also have a trial size for $7.99. 

It’s the second oil cleansing type product I’ve ever used and was pleasantly surprised with the results compared to the bad experience I had with the first cleansing balm I used.

It has a minty vanilla spice scent if I had to describe it.

I love the way this balm feels when I gently slide my finger across it in the jar to grab some product and when it turns from a balm to an oil on my face. The experience is great; and after I wash it off, my skin feels hydrated and clean (and it doesn’t leave that gross lotion-y feeling that the first balm I used did)
