The only thing I can think of that is "bad" about this cleanser is that the little pump broke once on one of mine, but I have not had this problem since and don't find it to have been an issue.

This cleanser is honestly one of the best I've found. I have super dry and easily-irritated skin, and this has never aggravated my skin at all. The texture is a nice gel with a mild lather once mixed with water. It does not make your skin feel tight after using, even with my dry skin. The salicylic acid also adds the nice acne-fighting punch of BHA that my adolescent skin desperately needs. I personally find it gentle enough to use every other day in combination with my cleansing balm. It does not feel overwhelming to use, and it comes at an amazing price point. 

My skin personally did not much care for this cleanser. I had been using the Renewing SA Cleanser for many months and wanted to alternate between it and a hydrating cleanser. Naturally, this one was my first choice. It felt nice on my skin, but it felt quite suffocating, even when rinsed off. I tried with a bit cooler and a bit warmer water than I usually use, just to see if that had any effect, and it did not. Even after thoroughly rinsing and toning, my face felt like there was still residue present from the cleanser. I also noticed that I began breaking out in small pustules more frequently than normal. I know that this cleanser works well for most people, and I think the ingredient list is decent, hence why I gave this 3 stars.

This cleanser, as with most CeraVe cleansers, gets the job done and done well for most people. It feels rich and creamy on the skin, and creates a mild lather when mixed with water. It is not overwhelming to use and is suitable for most skin types.

Although this product effectively cleansed my face, I found it to be too heavy, even for my very dry and dehydrated skin. It did a fairly basic job of cleansing, but nowhere near sufficient for days I had PE (Physical Education). I noticed that this cleanser also led to an increase in blackheads and clogged pores, which was the last thing I needed. I feel that there are much better and more effective options for basic cleansers at a similar price point, such as CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, and Krave Beauty.

I used this cleanser religiously as a preteen before I started getting into skincare. It was effective at cleansing my face without leaving it super dry. I also never had any significant irritation with this cleanser. It was what my mother had on hand, so naturally, it was the cleanser that I used. This cleanser is also fragrance free.

My skin absolutely hated this stuff! It severely stripped and dried out my already-dry skin, as well as actually worsening my acne. If I had any open wounds (popped pimples, picked spots, scratches, etc), this stuff would sting so bad that it made my eyes water. I also found out that I was allergic to Witch Hazel after trying another Witch Hazel astringent. This was one of the worst mistakes I made when first starting my skincare. Astringents are also very outdated, and a gentle toner with centella asiatic, aloe vera, and/or ceramides is a much better choice for your skin. I definitely recommend checking out what Peach Slices, CosRX, and La Roche-Posay have to offer instead.

Witch Hazel is something my mother recommended that I use when I first started breaking out. This astringent does a good job of removing any leftover dirt or makeup after you have cleansed, and gives you a very large dose of Witch Hazel.

My skin did not like this astringent at all. It dried out my already-dry skin and made it tight and reactive. It also worsened my breakouts instead of improving them. I tried this astringent and the Thayer's Witch Hazel Astringent, and both gave me such terrible reactions. This one particularly made my eyes burn during use, and was extremely harsh on my skin. The scent is unbearable as well. I found after trying this astringent that I am allergic to Witch Hazel. I feel that there are much better options for cost-effective toners that perform better. I definitely recommend giving options from Peach Slices, CosRX, and La Roche-Posay a try instead.

This product has been my mother's holy grail for years, as well as my grandmother's and great grandmother's. She recommend Witch Hazel to me to help with my acne from a young age. This astringent does a good job of removing any leftover dirt or makeup after cleansing, and it is very easy to use.
