(I’m new to this app so apologies if I am doing this wrong) 

I’m currently trying to repair my skin barrier due to acne, I’ve been doing it for about 5/6 weeks now. I’ve done some research into this…

Here is what I’m doing: 
- stopped using products with active ingredients
- using a gentle gel cleanser 
- using a hyaluronic acid serum
- using a very gentle and simple moisturiser 
- do this for 2-3 months until my skin improves and then slowly add back in my other products/replace products


The problem is that I am breaking out now probably more than I was before? I don’t know whether it’s because I have stopped using my BHA? Or could it be that the moisturiser I’m using is very oily? I’m not sure what’s causing my current breakouts because people say once your barrier is repaired your acne should improve but it has been getting worse. 

Should I continue to do what I’m doing for 2-3 months (as apparently this is how long it takes to repair) and then see what happens? Should I change my moisturiser? Is it too early to start using my BHA again? 😥

Repairing my skin barrier (HELP!)

Hi guys, I’m looking for a beginner retinol, I have acne prone skin so I want to start off as mild as possible, even bakuchiol I would love to try. I also want to use peptide along with this too. 

Looking for a product that has both mild retinol/bakuchiol and peptides in, safe for acne prone skin?

I want to start double cleansing, at the moment I only use the Cosrx pH balanced gel cleanser which is great but everyone keep saying it’s good to double cleanse with an oil or balm. I don’t wear make up but I have oily skin. Is it still necessary to double cleanse even if I don’t wear make up? 

If so, I’m looking for something that’s good for oily and acne prone skin…

Cleansing balm/oil for oily/acne prone skin?

So I’m currently using (the inkey list) BHA every 2/3 days. I’ve been using it for months and all good. But recently started to get more small whiteheads and blackheads so I feel I need to exfoliate a little more. 

I’ve wanted to use some Azelaic acid for a long time too. I’ve heard some really good things about the Paulas Choice Azelaic acid but it has salicylic acid in it too! I don’t know how much though.

Would it damage my skin if I use the inkey list BHA every 3 days and the Paulas Choice Azelaic aicd with SA also every 3 days but on alternate nights? 

I don’t want to over exfoliate but also if the Paulas choice AZ acid only has a small % of SA will it be okay do you think?

Can I use 2 products with salicylic acid?

Okay this made my skin 10x worse! I had acne and was trying to repair my barrier because of maskne too, this was said to help but it honestly made my acne worse and made my skin look soooo oily all day. I really do not recommend if you have oily/acne prone skin. For me, a good alternative is the Cera Ve Facial Moisturing Lotion PM. 

Provides deep intense moisture without being super heavy, very calming and soothing. I kind of use this as a rescue balm if i have dry or irritated patches of skin after using a spot treatment or for my hands or body as it did not do well for my face. 

The only downside to this product is that there isn’t a lot of patches in each pack. I tend to use the bigger sized patches the most and there is only 9 per pack and the smallest sized patches are almost too small for my pimples so i never use them and they go to waste. I end up buying a packet of these patches every week or so.

Literally use these everyday on my pimples. They are the most effective pimple patches i’ve ever used! They are really good for wearing overnight and really flatten and reduce the pimple:)

They only come in one size. So if you have a huge pimple it might not fit and the edges peel away. 

Although these patches, in my opinion, aren’t as good as the Cosrx Ance Pimple Master Patches, they still extract a lot of ‘gunk’ and are SUPER invisible!! They would be ideal for those who like the Acne Pimple patches or other patches but need something to use during the day/out and about. I don’t know much about their ingredients but i defo do recommend. They last pretty much all day and they’re so convenient, i keep some in my purse incase i breakout when i’m out lol. 

It can feel quite thick when you first put it on so suggest putting it on a while before you sleep. Also, can be quite hard to get hold of in my country. 

Really love wearing this night mask. I always have smooth, glass skin in the next morning, makes my blemishes/marks and pore less noticable too. Niacinamide good for my oily skin, never wake up feeling greasy. Also, a little goes a long way so you dont need to waste lots of product. Nice smell, not too strong. 

I really hated the texture, felt so silicone-y and could feel the slippery silicone on my face and when i washed my hands. It didn’t really feel hydrating or moisturizing at all, i had to layer another moisturiser on top so my skin felt properly moisturised. I even tried using more because thought maybe i wasn’t using enough but then it started to peel. Would recommend for someone with extremely oily skin as a primer maybe ontop of their original moisturiser. 

I really like the ingredients in this. With niacinamide and green tea, it’s really nice for oily skin and i found it did give my skin a nice matte look. I like it has oat in it too, to nourish and repair the skin. Made a good primer for make up.
