Retinol has been touted as an ingredient with many scientific studies backing up its ability to reverse the signs of aging. While there aren’t as many studies to back bakuchiol, it’s become a very popular product in the skincare world. It’s said to have less irritation than retinol making it great for those with sensitive skin or for those who aren’t used to strong ingredients.

I had a discussion with someone recently about this guide and wanted to state that these aren’t strict definitions. Skincare companies are becoming more fluid with these terms as they take on new roles. Things like essences are diversifying to include anti-aging and exfoliation while ampoules are starting to include ingredients like propolis and are becoming more hydrating. 

Usage depends on your skin type and the product since everyone’s skin reacts differently and not all products are the same.

Essence/Serum/Ampoule/Emulsion

You’re probably well acquainted with ceramides if you have dry skin OR you’ve damaged your skin barrier before. 

I mostly prefer ceramides in my creams and moisturizers but they can also be formulated in cleansers, toners, and serums. 

They’re essential to your skin barrier and protect your skin from environmental stressors, bacteria, etc. They also work on retaining skin moisture, having moist and supple skin aids in anti-aging. 

A strong skin barrier is necessary for your other skincare products to work. A compromised skin barrier looks different for everyone, some people get dry patches, experience stinging/irritation, or develop redness. A damaged skin barrier can also accentuate fine lines and wrinkles.

This is a bit of a text-heavy post but I wanted to talk a bit about breast cancer, especially since it is breast cancer awareness month. The slides include information on why breast cancer is, some facts, warning signs, ways to reduce risk, what a mammogram is, how to perform a self-examination, treatment options, as well as some resources. 

Unfortunately I was only able to include resources for those living in the US. If you live outside of the US, comment resources you know of below + your country!! 

I believe it’s important to understand and talk about breast cancer as it’s one of the most prevalent forms of cancer in the world. Chances are that you or someone you know will have breast cancer in their lifetime and the goal is to catch it early!! It’s important to do self-examination monthly (check the armpit area too) and get a mammogram annually. I know that many people (especially those living in the US) may not be able to afford mammograms so I’ve included resources that will allow you to find them for low-costs or for free. 

I mentioned genetics in the post because those who have a family history of breast cancer are at a higher risk. If you know someone in your family has had breast cancer, it is even more important for you to stay on top of screenings! 

Although breast cancer is usually associated with females, males can also develop breast cancer.

I think it does contain fragnance if thats important to you 

this has actually become a staple in my morning routine. I have a lot of lightweight and gel moisturizers in my collection but I don’t really like to use them in the mornings, they just don’t feel hydrating enough for me. This moisturizer is the perfect in-between as it is thick but isn’t so rich that it feels heavy on my skin. In addition to maple sap, it also contains rice bran extract, panthenol, watermelon extract, hyaluronic acid, and more!! 

Do not apply multiple layers because only the first layer will touch the lashes and the rest will start to flake off 

It definetly feels moisturizing, I haven’t used it long enough to know if it’s growing out my lashes. I will 100% buy this again because I used it once before putting on mascara and the way it looked after I applied my mascara was AMAZING. I had an insane amount of separation on my lashes with ZERO clumping and it looked so good an natural. I have no words…

My skin fluctuates between normal and combo and this was not enough as a moistuizer as I had hoped. I still use it my routine but it takes the place of an emulsion step. It feels sticky on the skin for a bit but dries down eventually.

First of all, its such a pretty pink!! I have been looking for different ways to incorporate snail mucin into my routine and thought this would be perfect. It’s super lighweight and spreads like a dream. If you have really oily skin and are looking for a summer moisturizer I would recommend this. If you have normal or dry skin, it’s a good addition to your routine but you might need another moisturizer.

It’s good to put over an area that is irritated or if you  pick at your skin. It’s also soothing on sun burns and scratches you may get from being outdoors. 


Overall, I enjoyed this product but I don’t think I would repurchase it. I mostly only use it in the morning or just after shower if my skin needs a little boost. If I’m using actives, I prefer to use something thicker.

The first thing I noticed about this product was the the texture/consistency. It’s super-lightweight gel, literally the SECOND I put this on my finger it starts to slide down lol. 

It’s formulated with neopharm MLE which is supposed to recreate the structure of healthy skin

It’s definitely perfect for the summer weather and seems like it would be perfect for those with oily skin. 

It contains a few types of hyaluronic acid which helps with the hydration and moisture retention of the skin. It also has bisabolol which helps with brightening and hyper-pigmentation. The lotion also feels soothing due to the inclusion of green tea extract and Centella extract
