I'm fascinated by genetics, so I tend to have random facts about the topic tucked away in my head that resurface sometimes. I wanted to share one that involves human skin patterns! ✨️ 

Blaschko lines are patterns in our skin that begin to form when we're tiny embryos. They're caused by chromosome expression in our cells. So, if you're female for example, one cell may use the X chromosome your mother gave you, while a different cell may express the X chromosome your father gave you. Lines or patches of these cells form unique patterns.

You can see the result of this process in animals with coat colors linked exclusively to their X chromosomes, such as calico cats! One coat color is from the cat's mother, and the other is from its father. 🖤🧡

Human skin patterns are usually invisible to the naked eye, but can be seen under strong UV light or can sometimes be visible due to certain skin conditions such as eczema and vitiligo.

Have you heard of this before? And do you have any visible Blaschko lines or other "patterns" (freckles, stretch marks, birthmarks, etc.)? I am freckled from head to toe, so I like to think my patterns resemble a leopard or jaguar. 🐆(I am delulu. 😂) I've never seen my actual Blaschko lines though.

I've been looking for good skincare products for babies, and I wanted to ask your opinions. My daughter is almost 9 months old, and she's especially in need of a good sunscreen/sunblock. If you know of any, or just any kind of baby skincare, I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Baby-safe skincare?

I'm trying to coax my boyfriend into taking care of his skin more. He doesn't use sunscreen, which stresses me out. 😭 He tells me he'll be fine since his skin is significantly darker than mine. (I've warned him of the risks of sun exposure.)
He's tried sheet masks, but he isn't a fan of them so I'm not trying to push him into the deep end of the skincare pool. Lol

Please give me some tips if you've had any success with getting your partner into skincare!

Tips for convincing partner to try skincare?

I'm pretty sad that I got demoted this month. 😢 I've written more reviews than I have before and even started including videos, but I guess the quality isn't good enough, or I'm not participating in discussions enough. 😭
There aren't really any perks to it (that I know of), but I guess it's just a little discouraging. Has anyone else had this happen to them this month or in past months?

I had no issues with this cleanser, but some people might not like the faint scent if they dislike floral scents.

I received this cleanser for free from Influenster and Well People in exchange for my honest review.

This is a gentle, gel-based cleanser that emulsifies easily and has a faint, pleasant floral scent. It contains aloe juice, broccoli seed oil, and geranium flower oil; these star ingredients help soothe and cleanse impurities from the skin. My skin feels and looks so smooth and clean after using it! I also really like the glass bottle and the locking lid.

I'm usually not a big fan of Western cleansers since they are often harsh on my skin, but I honestly love this one. It also reminds me of aloe after-sun products that I used years ago. (I think it's because it's similarly soothing to my skin.) 💚

I've had no negative experiences with the Rebalancing Serum, but if you are sensitive to fragrance, the scent might be too strong.

This serum contains probiotics, black soybean extract, biotin, and Hwanghae artemisia leaf extract for anti-hair loss and a strong and balanced scalp. It helps minimize excessive oil production and hydrates my scalp.

Spraying and massaging the serum into my scalp feels cooling and soothing. It's perfect for summertime, when the sun does the most damage. 😅 It smells wonderful too! The unisex fragrance has notes of green citrus and pine, so it reminds me a lot of the fresh forest air when hiking in the mountains. ⛰️🌲

I found out I have mild scalp psoriasis recently, and this serum doesn't irritate it or cause flare-ups, so it works for my sensitive scalp!

It contains salicylic acid, which I've read doctors don't recommend using frequently during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so I had to stop using it. 😭 I'll most likely go back to it once my baby is weaned though.

This toner was one of my pre-pregnancy holy grails. It's hydrating, soothing, and helped a lot with my acne. The consistency of it is a bit thicker than most other toners I've used, but still liquid. (So maybe somewhere in between a watery toner and a serum.) It feels really nice when applied, so I also sometimes liked to use it on my arms and hands. It's a pretty big bottle too, so it lasted me a long time!

Some people may not like the initial sticky feel, and they may also not like the wait time for it to set before applying makeup (which is about 30 seconds).

This is the first primer I've used in a while, but I can certainly say I'm impressed! It starts out a pale teal and goes on clear. It's hydrating and has a dewy finish. My makeup went on much more smoothly and looked better than normal too, even at the end of the day when I would normally start to look like a wax figure at its melting point. 😅
It also really does have some serious grip! I tested it out by rubbing my fingers across my cheek, and my makeup didn't budge.

It will likely feel pretty uncomfortable if you accidentally get it in your eye. It thankfully doesn't burn my eyes like some other cleansing oils I've tried though!

If you don't like your skincare to have any sort of scent, this may not be for you. It smells amazing to me, but if you're sensitive to scents or just want unscented products, you may not like it.

This vegan and cruelty-free cleansing oil is 52.575% organically-grown olive oil. 🫒 It's made of 100% naturally derived ingredients and is great for any skin type, including sensitive skin.

Using this for just 3 days has shown me how effective it is both immediately and incrementally. I was very impressed by how easily it removes makeup! On Day 3, I tested it by using a very difficult-to-remove liquid lipstick. (In fact, the lipstick stained one of my water bottles permanently. 🥲) With the cleansing oil, I had no trouble removing it! 💛 I think I may actually try it on my stained water bottle next. 😂
My skin also improved noticeably over the 3 days. It's become brighter and more hydrated. ✨️ 

The Aloe Fermentation Cleansing Oil is definitely deserving of Holy Grail status as it is the best cleansing oil I've tried! I'll be purchasing more when I finish this bottle. 💛
