There was a fantastic post a few weeks ago about inclusivity and how it’s important for our community 🥰 i just though it might be worth it to once again highlight, especially since a lot of new users joined us recently (welcome 💕), that we have a lot of great male and nonbinary users amongs us and it would be great to not exclude them by starting discussions by addressing us all as “girls” 😉

There are many coveted Asian, European and American brands i know and love. Thanks to Picky’s giveaways i also had a chance to try some Australian brands, which i am very greatful for. But i have not really heard much about African brands (or i’m just not aware they are African). Can you maybe recommend some great African brands/products that deserve some recognition?

Can’t find your product?

It works slowly. It strenghtens the barrier and cultivates skin health, but if you struggle with serious problems, it won’t be enough to deal with them. It can be a great addition, but it won’t get rid of acne, wrinkles or texture on it’s own.

Very good product.
It has a lot of soothing, reparative ingredients. It is awesome for most skins and skin types, it can be easily fitted into a routine and it can be a great all in one serum as it has plant extracts, niacinamide, ceramides and peptides. I really like to use it with my retinol serum as it is a great combo 🥰 it can be a great introductory serum, it will serve well both mature and teenage skin. I just think it is extremely versatile. 
The texture is like a watery, light gel. The pump is easy to use and the bottle is clear so you know how much product you have left. It lasts around 2 months if used once a day every day for face, neck and upper chest.
It can be great if your skin is irritated, needs something for barrier repair or if you just need a great serum for maintaining skin health. It is also amazing choice for a low percentage niacinamide serum as it offers a lot of additional benefits aside from it containing niacinamide.
There is no scent, it doesn’t smell like anything.

Because it feels heavier than normal toners, it can potentially be a problem for more oily folks. This product leaves behind a moisturizing, occlusive layer, so it’s not the best product for layering - moisturizers, lotions or thicker serums would work great on top, but thin, watery serums or essences just don’t feel right on top of it. I sometimes don’t use it in the toner step but after my serums.

There is a lot (and i mean A LOT) of hype around this product. The selling point of this product is that it is a hybrid between a toner and a moisturizer and while i don’t agree that it could be used instead of a moisturizer, it truly is what you would call a moisturizing toner. It gives some hydration but most noticably it leaves behind a moisturizing layer that feels like if you have put a thin cream on your skin. Depending on who you are and what your skin problems are it could be a good or a bad thing. If you have a dry skin or a sensitive skin that is looking for moisture and soothing it could be a great product. I was actually going to give it 3 stars because i was jusy not wowed by it, but when my skin got irritated by another product it has been a true saviour. So if you are looking for great toner for irritated skin, this could be the one. Also, if you have dry skin but don’t like long routines, then it’s an amazing hybrid product to incorporate into a routine.

It doesn’t work instantly, you need to give it a little time to work.
The 60 ml bottle lasts only a little longer than a 30ml bottles of other serums as you need more than a few drops 😞

At first, when i switched from the Iunik’s serum to this one, i wasn’t overly impressed. Yes, it was just fine, but it didn’t leave my skin as soft as the other one did. However, with time, it has grown on me. As you can see from the 5⭐️ rating, it has grown on me A LOT.
There is nothing better in this world than a serum in a pump packaging. As much as dropper bottles look “cool” and “fun” and “sciency”, they are a pain to operate, especially in the middle of a routine when you have wet hands and you can’t get a good grip on the cap. Big props for the packaging as i love the ease of use.
The serum is a gelly type serum that is on the more viscous side. Not really surprising, since it is a snail serum 😉 i usually put it on last, right before my moisturizer and after all my other serums. It’s very hydrating and moisturizing. It makes me feel like it covers the other products in the moisturizing layer and lets them sink in. Once i even forgot to take a moisturizer with me when i stayed somewhere overnight and it was my final step - it worked really well. I wouldn’t switch my moisturizer for it permanently and i doubt this trick would work for a person with dry skin, but as a one time thing, it was a great solution for me.
The serum doesn’t have any colour or smell. It doesn’t leave your skin instantly soft, but it works in the long run and you can see the improvement after a few weeks of use.
When it comes to instant effects, aside from hydrating and moisturizing, it soothes the skin. It feels nice and cool and it’s great to use it when you have irritated skin or a broken skin barrier. It’s also great when paired up with harsh actives, like acids or retinoids.

You run out of serum quicker than the essence (it’s not controlable), so you’ll be left with some pure snail essence at the end.

Cosrx seems to be on top of every trend, what with recently released cica line, their previous propolis products and a whole set of cult classics like pimple patches and low ph cleansers. So it’s no wonder that they would be the one to create a hybrid with two extremely popular ingredients: snail mucin and niacinamide, thus creating Advanced Snail Radiance Dual Essence.

- all the benefits of snail mucin and niacinamide in one product 
- nice, hydrating vessel
- panthenol for added soothing benefits 
- big size - 80ml (may not seem like much for an essence, but it’s really more of a treatment&#47;serum step in my opinion)
- fun packaging with two separate containers for snail essence and niacinamide serum
- pump dispenser 

Texture: serum is light, slightly watery and slightly gelly, while the snail essence is a viscous gel; the texture ends up a little lighter than sole snail essence after mixing

🍯A lot of people link propolis to brightness, but this product will only give you a very subtle glow. If you are looking for a glass skin appearance, this won’t make it happen (unless your skin is already flawless and you only need a little boost). I also wouldn’t say it’s very moisturizing.
🍯 I go quite quickly through this product. I would recommend using it as an ampoule (a few times a week) rather than a serum (daily), to not run out of it fast.

Propolis is the *it* ingredient on the skincare market and while i’ve never quite gotten on the hype train, i only had positive experiences so far, so i was definitely excited to try this.

🍯This product has a very simple ingredients list and the propolis extract constitutes 83.25% of the formulation.
🍯Despite high propolis percentage, the ampoule is not sticky, which was a nice surprise ☺️
🍯The product banks on propolis’ antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is meant to be use on stressed, red skin. As someone with loads of redness to go around, i am happy to report it works well in a routine meant to soothe the skin. It’s not the most soothing product on the market, but introducing it alongside some other calming products makes the whole regimen quite effective.
🍯 I highly appreciate the fact that it doesn’t contain niacinamide, which makes it easy to use whether you can’t use niacinamide or just have enough of it in your routine. It makes it possible to use propolis in other way than for glow and brightening.
🍯 Easy to incorporate into a routine alongside any actives, works well both morning and evening.

I quite like this ampoule, but seeing as my skin is in a pretty good place, it fades into the background for now. I think it’s not a world changing product, but it’s a solid position that delivers subtle effects and would work great for sensitized skin that needs a pick-me-up and some gentle treatment. For anyone who needs a break from actives and looks for a product to keep their skin happy and healthy, it could be the one.
