I've been watching skincare youtube for so long now, and YT dermatologists say that Vitamin C is best used in the AM, as it boosts the efficacy of the sunscreen while also serving as an antioxidant. 

However, I consulted my dermatologist yesterday and he told me that Vitamin C is best used at night. Now I'm confused. Help! 🤣

What is the best and ideal time to use Vitamin C: AM or PM?

Any Chemical Sunscreen Recommendations?

I personally gravitate towards sheetmasking myself. Wash off masks are such a hassle for me because I tend to get too lazy to wash it off- especially at night time! With sheet masks, I just have to simply pat all of the juicy essence in my skin, and I'm all good (followed by a moisturizer, of course!)

Sheet Mask VS Wash Off Mask: Which Do You Prefer?

I've been using this particular retinol product for about a month and a half now. When I first used it, I only used it once a week at night, then slowly worked my way up to an MWF schedule. And yes, I do use a pea size. 

In spite of its low retinol percentage, I am one of the unlucky few that's  currently "purging". Acne appears in places where I get breakouts the most, but also in areas where I don't normally get it 

My problem here is: I don't know if I should continue with it. It's already been almost a month and a half and I'm still "purging". I did notice that other parts of my face were smooth AF (forehead and chin). 

I'm not sure if this is indeed purging, or a bad reaction to the product. Help!

Purging or Breaking Out?

What I didn't like about this product is the packaging. Although the overall aesthetic of the brand is adorable, the tube lets out too much product. Given that retinol needs a specific amount for it to work properly, it's hard to estimate a pea sized amount. I hope that they would make the opening a bit tinier for precision when squeezing out the product.

When I first tried it out, I was amazed by how it made my skin glow. It looked so healthy, plump, and hydrated. 

I was quite disappointed because given that it’s a “Blackhead Power Liquid”, I expected it to cause more improvement on my blackheads, which it didn’t. 

A little goes a long way with this chemical exfoliant, and I find that 1-2 pumps is already enough. It helps calm some of my breakouts, and the morning after I wake up, I would notice that my oil production has lessened. 



• I would like to point out that it’s not as hydrating as I expected it to be. Because of which, I mainly use it in the PM, since I like to layer a lot of moisturizing products at night. If you seek hydration with additional brightening benefits, definitely try the I’m From Rice Toner instead!

• The texture is very light and watery, and the product has a very herbal scent.

• great for soothing redness 
• helpful to those with a damaged skin barrier
• not as hydrating as I expected but very lightweight on the skin

💭 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸:
• I’ve seen this essence being raved about by the skincare community from all social media platforms. I must say, it is definitely living up to its hype! The first time that I used this product, I was genuinely shocked because the morning after, I don’t have that much redness on my skin. A fun little fact about me is that I get red VERY easily, and the I’m From Mugwort Essence has helped so much with it! It’s very easy to incorporate it in a routine, which is amazing. Since I’m using a retinoid, it’s perfect for my skin barrier. Since I used this, I seldom experience irritation from my actives!

💸 𝘞𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦?
• I would if I could! Since it’s $40, I probably won’t. Don’t get me wrong- this product is great! However,I can’t really afford it at its full price. I would definitely splurge on it though! 

👍 𝘞𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰:
• all skin types that want soothing and healing properties in a lightweight essence. 

I really love how this cleanser foams up! It’s really soft and fluffy, and is definitely a sensorial experience every time I cleanse. With a pH of 5, it’s very effective in cleansing all of the dirt I accumulated throughout the day, all while being non-stripping! A little goes a long way with this cleanser, so it’ll definitely last you a long time. It’s nothing revolutionary or new, but it’s good for what it’s intended to do. 


💞 𝙏𝙇;𝘿𝙍
• Doesn’t sit well on top of my skin, and can be quite sticky. 
• I don’t like the finish that it leaves on my skin. 
• Thought that I would like it more but I was wrong. 

💭 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸:
• I expected so much from this soothing gel. I genuinely thought that I would like this better than the cream, but this is just not good enough for me. It doesn’t absorb well on my skin, and it feels sticky when I use it. It’s a pretty decent moisturizer though. It’s not HORRIBLE and I still use it til today. However, it’s not really my favorite. I think the cream is waaaaay better.  

🌻 𝘛𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 + 𝘚𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵:
• Similar to the cream, it doesn’t smell like anything. Its texture is like a hybrid of a gel and a cream.
