Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion
This sunscreen from Obagi is a broad spectrum spf 50 sunscreen, designed for skin using strong treatment that requires special needs for suncare like Retinol, Tretinoin, AHA, BHA, etc. this is a mixed sunscreen containing 10% Homosalate, 5% octisalate, 16.5% Zinc oxide, decent concentration for sun protection. It leaves a very light white cast on my medium light skin, almost not noticeable. When I use it during the summer in California which is fairly dry, it absorbs very fast comfy on the skin.
However, when I use it in Vietnam, a tropical hot and humid country, it was wayy too oily, and I don’t know why. Other sunscreens i’ve tried weren’t that different if used in two different countries - the dewy ones stay dewy and the matte ones stay fairly matte. I just make my guess that this sunscreen, despite being matte, is weak agaisnt humidity - humid can break it off easily. And that’s quite true, this sunscreen will break into white noticeable clumps if there is just A DROP of water on the surface. In the last picture is the texture after 2s of a drop of water touch the surface - no rubbing or anything, it already melt into a white firm like that, imagine if you sweat just a little… with a little rubbing it wil clumps very badly. I like the finish and the strong protection but I can’t stand this peeling off! If you just sweat a little it will look so bad. It’s so awful. I’m not wearing it outside. I’m using it for days that I just stay indoor next to the windows. That’s kind of a waste since this products is pretty expensive.
However, my mom, who sweat very little, have dry aging skin, she pretty enjoy this sunscreen. So if you want a strong protection matte finish sunscreen and you don’t have a sweating problem or don’t have oily skin - this might work.
