What ingredients causes your eyelids to burn?

I don’t know how to explain this but all of a sudden my skincare products have been causing a burning sensation to my eyelids. I have not switched up any of my products or introduced anything new. It’s just all of a sudden I’ve been experiencing more dry skin and my products have been causing stinging and burning sensation on my eyelids. Here’s a list of all the products I use and have been consistent with for almost a year. Normally my skin type is oily/combinational but again all of a sudden I’ve been experiencing more dryness to my skin. Any advice/help?

I wonder if you're experiencing dermatitis or some type of eczema? I have had things burn on my lids, the skin around the eyes is very thin and can be sensitive unlike other areas of the face, but some products you're using look like they'd be very nourishing and gentle and nit cause pain. I'd try to only gently cleanse your eye area once a day and only use something like a thin layer of aquaphor to protect whatever may be compromised. I do also recommend seeing a dermatologist, but I know that's not always an option. Definitely don't use actives on your eye area.

Thanks for your reply. I’m avoiding most products on the eye, I just go in with my cleansers and apply my moisturiser and sunscreen around that area and keep the rest of my products away. however it still burns I don’t get it. last night I just smothered my whole eyelid wiv Vaseline. I’m gonna keep that up and see if it makes a difference.

Do not apply any thing around your eye area except eye gel.

oh yeah I forgot to add in these two products that I use under the eye. I’m not always consistent with it tho. and I apply these under the eye which doesn’t burn. but when I bring the product to the eyelid it does sting. again it’s not specifically this products it’s almost all my skincare product causing my eyelids to burn.

This has happened to me before and it was very painful. This is what helped me ➡️ I started using Vaseline around my eyes immediately after cleansing before proceeding with my skincare routine. This way, that area is protected from getting more irritated. After a week or so, I switched to using my Cicaplast Baume around the area instead of Vaseline. This took care of the problem for me. Now moving forward, I try as much as possible to avoid my eye area especially when using strong actives.

hey there! just wanted to share my experience- I have found that most things will burn my eyelids- some days it’s fine, and then other days I get the burn. once was so bad I got to work and my boss sent me home because she was like “you’re having a reaction to something”. since then, I don’t put anything on my eyes. I will work a product to my eyebrows, but never below. things like oil, or squalene based products will always seep down which doesn’t seem to bother me, but as a rule, I never apply anything except makeup to my eyelids. it’s just not worth it to have red, inflamed, and then crusty eyelids 😂

I also want to add that im a nurse, and you really shouldn’t listen to advice telling you to put occlusive substances around your eyes like Vaseline if you don’t have diagnosed dermatitis or eczema. you may do more harm than good. I would suggest just not applying anything (especially sunscreen) to your kids and see how you go
