Peptides vs Ceramides?

I saw this new product from supergoop and I’m wondering if anyone has tried it? I love their unseen sunscreen and the idea of a hydrating oil with spf is interesting. It doesn’t have any reviews on this app yet, but I’m intrigued.

Hi everyone! I wanted to create a space where I could share tips I’ve learned for hair growth and hear some back from y’all :) I have type 2A hair but I don’t see any reason why these tips shouldn’t work for everyone! I’ve been suffering from pretty severe hair loss over the past 2 years due to stress and it’s recently started growing back after I’ve been doing all these things. 

This is everything I’ve learned and do based on my extensive research (seriously, I became obsessed with this…). Now, my little bald spots are full of baby hairs and my hair is so much longer and soft looking. I’m so proud of her :) This is what has helped me but there’s always room for improvement! This is by no means a perfect routine. 

Hair growth comes from the scalp so your main objective is to improve scalp health first. Your next priority should be minimizing breakage of your existing hair.

In the shower:
-I wash my hair about 3 times a week, some people say that washing it less helps your hair grow out but mine just gets greasy and I end up having to add a ton of dry shampoo which isn’t great for scalp health. Wash as much as feels right to you! Based on my research, washing less often hasn’t been scientifically proven to increase hair growth at all.
-every time I shampoo my hair I mix in 2-3 drops of rosemary essential oil by lathering it in my hands with the shampoo then massaging into my hair. A clinical study actually found rosemary oil to be nearly as effective for hair growth as minoxidil so I really recommend this.
-regular washes (2 hair washes per week) I use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from Shea Moisture.
-SPECIAL WASH (1 time per week) 
       - Before I shower, I massage a hair growth oil into my scalp and leave it for about 2 hours or however much time I have. I like the Mielle hair growth oil for this. This is called hair oiling and it seems like it’s been highly praised in many Eastern cultures for centuries! I can see why :)
       - I use a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup and eliminate any greasiness from the oil. Then a conditioning hair mask on my mid lengths to ends only (I’m using the Ouai mask right now which I LOVE)
-After getting out of the shower, I put my hair in a microfiber hair towel or t-shirt for about 30 minutes. I then shake my hair out and let it air dry until it’s 80% dry. I then like to put in heat protectant and blow dry it on the cool setting with minimal brushing until dry! Y’all if I just air dry my hair it ends up looking CRAZY like half wavy half straight… not cute. Minimizing heat used on the hair is so important for hair growth so this is my little compromise so that my hair can still look nice with little damage. Another option I like is putting it in robe curls (look it up! So easy and so cute) when it’s 80% dry and sleeping on it. 

Nightly/Daily:
-I sleep on a silk pillowcase
-I massage about 10 drops of the ordinary hair growth serum into my scalp before bed. It’s super watery so by the time I wake up it doesn’t look greasy at all. Really focus on the massage here! Flip your hair upside down and massage for a few minutes to increase blood flow to the scalp, which will help with hair growth.
-I switched from a Wet Brush to using a Tangle Teezer. I try not to brush my hair too much because that can cause breakage but using this, starting on the ends and working my way up, barely causes any hair fall at all
-HEAT STYLE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE!!
-I wear protective hairstyles about half the time… aka I put my hair in a claw clip bc I love the hot librarian look

*Remember there’s rarely immediate results with hair growth. Be patient with yourself and keep trying, results will come and you’ll be so happy that you kept it up!! 


Ok sorry for literally writing a whole essay… but if I had found something as comprehensive as this when I first started my hair growth journey it would’ve saved me so much time, stress, and money so I really hope this helps someone. Let’s Talk Hair Growth!

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if you could describe your dermaplaning routines/ tips for not getting bumps? I clean my skin beforehand and use a new blade each time, but a few days after I do it I get tiny little acne bumps. Any suggestions?

It’s normally $40 which is a little expensive for an eye serum in my opinion. 

Also, I want to use it in the morning because it has Vitamin C but it looks so oily that I can only use it at night: 

I received this in my Kinder beauty box a while ago and I’ve been using it for about a month. I really like how cooling it feels and it has a nice but kind of strong smell. I’m not sure it’s really made a difference in how my under eyes look but I have genetic dark circles that are beyond help.

🐙 texture: like a facial oil, very thin. It doesn’t absorb very quickly and makes my skin look super oily so I only apply it at night.

🐙 feel: very light, oily 

🐙 application: this is my favorite part! It’s a metal roller ball that always feels very cold and luxurious

🐙 smell: strong, sort of citrusy 

🐙 runniness: doesn’t sting my eyes which is nice! 

🐙 overall: I think it’s worth a try if you hate the feeling of cream by your eyes and would prefer an oil, but I personally wouldn’t purchase it again. Other eye creams like The Ordinary Caffeine Eye Cream have worked better for me. 


The price is not ideal… it’s $40 for 50 mL. I found it on sale and I will say it comes with a lot of product so I think it will last me a long time. 

Also, it’s a little hard to get the product out of the jar without using the little scoop. It’s a very lightweight so it likes to slip off of my fingers.

I am literally OBSESSED with this moisturizer! It gives me this beautiful glow and I have been receiving so many compliments about how supple my skin looks since using it. It takes a minute to rub in because I use a lot but be patient, once it absorbs it looks so incredible. It has helped so much with my skin texture and calming redness. I’ve been on a mission to stop using so many skincare products and I love this so much that it helped me narrow my morning routine down to just a cleanser, this moisturizer, and sunscreen. My skin looks way better than it did with all the serums, toners, etc I’ve ever tried. I know this sounds like an ad but I promise it isn’t, I paid for this with my own money and I am just so impressed by this product! 

🐙 texture: light, silky cream
🐙 color: green (doesnt look green when you rub it in haha)
🐙 smell: I am very sensitive to smells and this does not bother me. It smells very sweet and slightly floral but it fades immediately after putting the cream on.
🐙 packaging: the packaging is so smooth and satisfying and it comes with a little spatula to scoop the cream out! 
🐙 wear: wears great throughout the day under sunscreen and light makeup… I never wear heavy makeup so I can’t speak to that. I started using it in colder weather and am using it now as it gets warmer, I think it is performing well in both so I won’t need a new moisturizer for summer.
🐙 acne safe: I read a lot of reviews about this causing acne so I was pretty nervous to try it as I have acne-prone skin. It hasn’t caused any breakouts for me so far, even when I wear masks all day. 

I’ve noticed that if my face is still slightly wet after cleansing, the serum forms like a weird foamy texture. Easily solvable, just dry your face well!

This is amazing for clearinng up my acne and evening out my skintone! I notice that my face is significantly less oily after using it in the morning. I use it once a day, after cleanser and before moisturizer + sunscreen. 

It leaves a white cast and makes greasy skin much greasier. I don’t wear makeup so I can’t comment on that…
 It made me want to not use sun protection ever again!! Thankfully I tried some others, which I found to be much better. 

This was actually the first sunscreen I ever tried as a serious step in my skincare routine and it was recommended to me by my dermatologist for its gentle ingredients. I really wanted to like it because I love other products from the brand so much, but I didnt :(
