Pore Strips/Vacuums/Extractions?

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a great hump day! Just to get the ball rolling for everyone, I have a question. What are your opinions on Pore Strips, Pore Vacuums & Tool Extractions? Once upon a time, I was OBSESSED with Pore Strips! I used to use them almost on a daily thinking I was doing more good than harm. Researching about it, I found that most of those things are harmful & damaging. Especially the Pore Strips! Digging deeper, I found that the reason it was so damaging was that majority of the time--people would just rip these strips off & not do much else. Exposing the sensitive, raw skin to the horrible elements. It's not 100% safe but if you do intend to use--make sure you are replenishing the skin & bringing back the natural pH by gently incorporating moisturizers & essences back into the "damaged" skin. Emollients & barrier locking elements seem to work great after something so abrasive & raw. Just my two cents & opinion. Feel free to add your input or start a discussion! I love learning & educating myself about stuff like this! ❤

I personally think pore strips are not the worst. But honestly, they only get rid of sebaceous filaments and it's not permanent. There's other (and better imo) options to get rid of the filaments like BHAs. Some people do like pore strips thought and it's fine, just make sure you soothe and hydrate your skin afterwards and don't use them too often ❤️

Pore strips are less than great, I fully agree! The damage it does over time that is irreversible is not worth the temporary look of clean pores. I used to use these often too. As for the other tools, my belief is that these types of methods should be left to professionals. Again, the risk isn't worth the reward to me! It's very easy to cause irreversible scarring or damage when talking about using a tool that derms and esthies are trained to use.

I agree with you on the pore strips. Plus, they mostly remove sebaceous filaments, which everybody has. It’s normal and will eventually return. About vacuums and extractions, I prefer to leave them to the professionals. If you vacuum at one place for too long, it can actually cause small blood vessels to burst, resulting in long term damage. (Think of it like a hickey, you get bruising afterwards.)

agree with everyone else that pore strips can be irritating at times and don’t fully get “rid” of blackheads. i use a microdermabrasion tool to physically exfoliate my face, which can function similarly to a pore vacuum on the large pores on my nose, but that alone hasn’t had much of an improvement on the size of my pores. to really accomplish something i go over my skin the a BHA after.

Strips are what they are. Strip of the blackhead or sebaceous fillament. They remove it temporarily but it won’t get rid of the problem. Chemical exfoliate is the way to go
