Humectants are a class of moisturizers that attract water, so that water stays in that area of your skin where you apply that humectant. However, humectants CANNOT forever hold on to those water molecules! The water molecules will eventually evaporate as they always do. This is why you should find a moisturizer with a balance of humectants PLUS OCCLUSIVES!
