Just recently jump into tretinoin from being a retinol user for 2years. I opted to go for Tretinoin 0.05 cream rather than gel ( gels are stronger as they have stronger penetration capabilities especially the micro one) Tret creams are also easier to divide and spread plus gets along well with sandwich method. I started once a week, half a pea size with sandwich method, first week I had lots of sensitivies and some irritation. Watch out 48-72hrs post tret as it is at this time where you will notice any adverse irritation. I am on 3rd week of tret and just increased it to twice a week half a pea size. then if its all good ill increase it to full pea size the following week. As for routines, I usually will use a mild exfoliant one night before tret. but that is me, most will have to stop exfoliants and vit c all together while starting on tret. On tret night, I focus only on upping my hydration products.Look for a thick moisturiser you like. Then the morning after, I use hydrating and calming products also increasing hydration levels. Plus I use physical spf the day before where in other days when my skin is less irritated I go use chemical spf.
