Max Matte Shine Control Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45
🌞 I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to try & review the Max Matte Shine Control Sunscreen from Peter Thomas Roth. One thing that I am always keeping an eye out for is the next best sunscreen product & this one hits every mark that I look for in a great sunscreen. The best key to graceful aging is protecting your skin from UV rays.
🌞 I was super keen on the idea of the "matte" claims. I myself have combination skin that tends to accumulate oil throughout the hot summer days, so I am welcoming to anything to help with shine control.
🌞 The texture is a medium consistency cream, and it comes out of the tube a white color. Contrary to its consistency it feels very lightweight on the skin. It rubbed in quite easily & left no white cast. I enjoyed that it was unscented & wished more sun products would follow the same cue.
🌞 When first applied it has a satin finish on my skin due to it's hydrating effects, but as it completely absorbs it leaves a lovely matte finish. It sets completely sheer but also brought life to my dull skin. I was also happy to note that my face did not become an oil slick by the end of the day, even after reapplying. There was also no irritation and I didn't find it to be comodogenic.
🌞 While this is considered "reef safe" by some standards, it does contain the ingredient avobenzone which is banned in the State of Hawaii. However, you can rest assured you are getting a broad spectrum shield from both UVA & UVB rays. At 45 in SPF rating, you are being shielded from about 98% of UVB rays, the ones responsible for nasty burns.
🌞 Overall this suncreen has a great balance of protection & functionality. We all want sun protection, but some of us oilier folk are prone to shy away from anything that could exacerbate our sebum production. If you can swing the higher price point, I definitely recommend giving this sunscreen a shot!
I wish this were genuinely reef safe. The price point of $34 USD for 50ml makes this rather expensive for the quantity you are receiving.
