Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭?
This is a serum with mugwort extracted via the Time Drop method, in order to achieve a high concentration of herbal compounds.
▪︎My skin profile: Combination, dehydrated, rosacea, acne and Malassezia, with high levels of congestion.
▪︎Fragrance free/Unscented: No (contains fragrant compounds).
▪︎Malassezia (fungal acne) safe: No.

My first impression about the bottle is that it looks and feels so luxurious. I really like the aesthetics of it. The serum has a herbal and slightly eartht scent which I enjoy a lot. The consistency is light and absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving no residues. It provides some hydration although this is not its main function. Its main function is to be soothing and calming, which is supposed to be great for pimples and spots, used as a spot treatment or all over the face. I did experience a lot of irritation and my rosacea got flared while using this product, due to the Kawa Kawa extract added in the formula. Therefore, I sadly cannot speak for its calming effects.
I would recommend this serum to someone with generally resilient skin, who is acne prone but does not currently have a broken skin barrier. Sequently, if you have dry skin and want extra hydration from this serum, I would suggest you top up with a hydrating toner, essence or other serum to make up for that, since this serum has modest to moderate hydrating abilities.

This product is a disappointment for me as it works against my skin and it wasn't even cheap to begin with. This was an intentional purchase and not something I bought on a whim. I was really hoping to see some soothing effects but sadly, the added Piper Methysticum (Kawa Kawa) in the formula as part of its Korean preservative system just further ruins my already sensitive and rosacea prone skin. I really wasn't expecting a bad effect from a product which is meant to soothe and calm down skin redness and irritation. It does the complete opposite! My rosacea is a trigger happy bi*ch, alright, and this serum makes my face look like a tomato. It also always breaks me out in Malassezia pustules. I thought that at least the mugwort would have antifungal properties. Oh well. With all of this said, I do not have any reason to use it and just sits in my stash.
