Green Tea Fresh Cleanser
🌱 Claims: Alcohol-free, Paraben-free, Silicone-free, Sulfate-free, Allergen-free, Cruelty-free, Fragrance-free, Pregnancy-friendly, Non-comedogenic, Oil-free, Fungal Acne-Safe, Eczema-Safe
Key Ingredients:
🌱 Glycerin provides soft humectant properties
🌱 Green Tea extract and leaf, combined with evening primrose extract and pueraria thunbergiana provide antioxidant and skin-soothing benefit. (Whatever gets rid of invasive kudzu!)
Main cleansing agents:
🌱Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate is a mild surfactant and foaming agent
🌱Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate is a very gentle coconut-derived cleansing agent
🌱Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate a mild coconut-derived biodegradable surfactant
🌱Lauryl Hydroxysultaine is a sort of backup / companion surfactant for other gentle cleansers
🌱 Ph: 5.5
🌱 Texture: This is a clear gel tinted brown from the inclusion of green tea. And when I say inclusion, I mean chunks! Thankfully, these bits are fairly broken down, so they won’t scratch at your skin. But they also won’t provide any physical exfoliation if that’s what you’re looking for.
🌱 Scent: None, smells like soap ingredients.
🌱 Price: $26.45CA for (My photos show 20mL sample size)
🌱 Application: The combination of several gentle cleansers helps this product form a lovely, medium-density foam on skin. I prefer a wider range of cleansing agents so each one can do its job without one solo ingredient attacking skin’s barrier.
That said, this cleanser might be a little too clarifying for those with extremely dry, cracked skin. The inclusion of irritating Pinus Palustris oil does not help with that. However, this is fine for oily, normal or slightly dry combination skin.
This cleanser is great for removing a lot of cleansing oil or balm after removing waterproof makeup. It has great dissolving capabilities.
🌱 Other uses: While I sometimes use face cleansers as a scalp treatment around the border of my hair and face, the inclusion of tea leaves makes this a bit messy. YMMV.
🌱 Every day: Probably too strong for daily use if you have very dry skin. Normal to Oily types will love this.
🌱 Notes: Although this cleanser doesn’t smell like anything, the ingredients include Pinus Palustris oil, which is a very harsh, irritating fragrance additive. This ingredient should be removed as it provides no benefit whatsoever, not even aesthetic. It’s not in very high concentration, and doesn’t ruin the formula, but it just doesn’t need to be there.
🌱 Packaging: The full size is a large squeeze tube with a wide base and flip-cap. The tube can be stored vertically on a shelf or in the shower.
🌱 Accessibility: I like flip-cap tubes the best because they can be opened, dispensed, and closed with one hand, even if your hand is already wet.
🌱 Sustainability: Isntree has recently updated all of their packaging to be more sustainable with wash-off labels, post-consumer plastic and recyclable design. Thank you!
🌱 Overall: This is a good cleanser for most skin types except for extremely dry, dehydrated, damaged skin. I hope Isntree considers removing the pine oil, as it provides no benefit. If they did that, this would be an excellent formula.
🌱 Designed for normal to oily skin, so it's a little too clarifying for dry skin
🌱 Contains irritating Pine Oil that serves no purpose and doesn't improve the scent
🌱 There are large bits of green tea leaves in there; some folks may not like that, but I didn't find them intrusive
