Vegan Green Mild Fresh Facial Cream
We all know about the K-Beauty giants like the Bentons, the Cosrxes, the Isntrees and Misshas, but occasionally I see brands pop up that I know nothing about and decide to try for the hell of it. One such brand is Muldream, a self-styled "clean beauty" and vegan skincare brand. Their Vegan Green Mild Fresh Facial Cream claims to offer pore control, regulate excess sebum, and hydrate the skin without feeling to heavy or greasy on oily-combination skin.
🌿 Notable Ingredients*:
• Glycerin
• Betaine
• Centella Asiatica Extract
• Sodium Hyaluronate
• Tea Tree Oil
• Ceramide NP
• Linseed Oil
*Ingredients taken from yesstyle.com (Muldream's English website does not offer an English ingredient list)
💅 Skin profile:
Combination skin with oily T-Zone and drier U-Zone, semi-humid temperate climate (Central Europe), 3x Retinal usage per week
📦 Packaging:
The product is packaged in cardboard and comes in a clear to semi-frosted glass jar with a lilac plastic lid and a small spatula. The main way to differentiate it from other Muldream face creams is to look at the product's name colour: In this case, the Vegan Green Mild Fresh Facial Cream is printed in green. This particular jar was bought from Y by YumiHana in Zurich for 32CHF and has been in use for 6 weeks as a morning cream, then a night cream as of time of writing.
🫙 Texture and Scent:
The cream itself is a white, gel-like substance that sits halfway between creamy and gel. It isn't very sticky applied to skin and takes a while to absorb into the skin. On my skin, it left a bit of a tacky finish. Being lazy, I usually forego using spatulas for jar creams and prefer to just dip my finger in before applying directly to skin. It has a mild fragrance, but nothing too powerful or overwhelming to my nose.
✅️ Pros:
• My skin would become very plump and hydrated after I started using the cream as a night cream. I'd wake up with firm, soft skin in the morning which is really nice!
• It does a good job at keeping the moisture of my prior products in.
• Texture and scent are very pleasant and the gel glides onto my skin easily.
• Lots of soothing ingredients in the formulation, which really helps for mild irritation!
❌️ Cons:
• Ugh. The finish. It's very tacky and this cream takes a long, long time to absorb into my skin, which leaves plenty of time for it to get stuck on my pillow case when sleeping.
• Didn't really do much for my excess oil. In fact, when I still used this as a day cream I'd become pretty greasy on my T-Zone after only a few hours.
• Too heavy for me to use as a day cream in Summer. It's fine for colder weather but I switched to using this as a night cream only because it was too heavy to wear on hot days. Very egregious considering this is explicitly marketed as a cream for combo-oily skin.
• Jar packaging. I'm a certified Jar hater and dislike jar packaging most of the time, and this particular face cream just comes with the most irritatingly TIGHT lid I've ever had to deal with. It's not fun, and I really wish companies would stop using jars for their products.
👩⚖️ Verdict: I really wanted to like this cream, and I think some part of me actually does, but for the price point and the marketed claims this really was just an abysmal product overall. I'll still use it up, of course, and the moisturizing aspect is great, but the excess grease, long absorption time and how little effect it had on my sebum production feel like a total fail when you take into account that this product is explicitly marketed as "adequate" and "fast-absorbing" towards Combination-Oily skin like mine. The tight jar packaging is just the cherry on top. It's also extremely expensive, but I'll chalk that up to the store's overinflated prices.
