Wow, let me just start by saying that I have found my new holy grail sunscreen! I recently discovered the Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Sun Lotion SPF50+ PA++++, and I am absolutely blown away by its performance. This gem is a new release this year & I’m actually so surprised I haven’t come across it sooner. I haven’t seen it spoken about so I need to give my opinion on this! (*tldr at the end*) This is a super lightweight formula. It's one of the most underrated sunscreens from Korea that I've come across. In fact, I find it comparable to the cult favourites **skin1004 Sun Serum SPF** & the **Boj Probiotic Sun Relief**, both of which I adore. I would say it’s not as “wet” as the **skin1004** and not as heavy/Dewy as the **BOJ**. The fresh lemony/minty scent adds to the pleasant application experience, without lingering afterward. One of the most impressive aspects of this sunscreen is how it instantly melts into my skin. There's no greasy feeling whatsoever, which is fantastic, especially for someone like me with acne-prone skin. Instead, it leaves a very soft matte finish that I appreciate, and it's so lightweight that reapplying throughout the day is a breeze without any heaviness. It stays so soft and matte on my skin and reapply takes no effort to blend in. I would say you can still feel it on the skin, however it’s not heavy or greasy or sticky.. it’s just there if that makes sense? It even feels matte on the skin so may not be great for those who love a hydrating/dewy finish. It doesn’t feel drying but is very comfortable to wear. I was a bit concerned that this sunscreen might cause stinging however It did not whatsoever! I was absolutely blown away by how gentle it is around the eyes, making it an instant winner in my book. I’ve used Japanese spfs which have claimed to be “cooling” in the past so was hesitant to use this as my eyes can be stung with the gentlest sunscreen but at no point throughout the wear did this ever sting my eyes. It did slightly sting when I had a little cry but that was because my head was to the side so the tears ran into my eye, but it went away as soon as I wiped my eyes. I must admit that I initially had low expectations for this sunscreen, but oh my goodness, it's been nothing short of incredible. I genuinely can't recommend it enough to anyone looking for the perfect sunscreen. It's like a hydrating and nourishing gel cream for the skin with its 10 types of hyaluronic acid and packed full of other nourishing ingredients like blue tansy oil. This sunscreen blends in within seconds with no cast on my Fitzpatrick 3/4 skin. The application process is effortless, and the secure locking lid ensures no spills or messes in my bag. If you have reactive skin like me, prone to flushing red, you'll truly appreciate this cooling feature of the sunscreen. Again trying Japanese spfs I was expecting the initial application to provide a cooling sensation however this doesn’t have that feeling… I think the true test will be in the Australian summer for me as I tend to go red from just hoping into a car that’s been out into the sun so I will report back once the weather warms up! But so far my skin has been quite calm since using it however I won’t know for sure! Last but not least, I adore how non-drying it is and how easily it comes off when I need to remove it. It's like the sunscreen knows how to balance hydration and protection perfectly. To sum it up, the Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Sun Lotion SPF50+ PA++++ is a game-changer for me. It's lightweight, non-greasy, and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. With its hydrating and nourishing properties, it's become an essential part of my daily skincare routine.
