Actinic Control MD SPF 100
Amount 🍰: this sunscreen is pretty big for sunscreens. Its 80ml (2.7oz), which is good because there are a lot of facial sunscreens available on the market are around 60ml for the same price as this. I'm especially grateful because I use this as a body sunscreen so it will last me longer than a normal face sunscreen would. I know that there are body sunscreens but this one is way more tolerable because its not as greasy as most body sunscreens.
Ingredients 🍰: this is a hybrid sunscreen. The uv filters are (from highest on the ingredient list to lowest):
- avobenzone (chemical)
- octisalate (chemical)
- tinosorb s (chemical)
- uvinul a plus (chemical)
- uvinul t150 (chemical)
- homosalate (chemical)
- ensulizole (chemical)
- titanium dioxide - nano (mineral)
Some other notable ingredients are: alcohol (makes the sunscreen evaporate quickly so that there is not a greasy finish), silica (makes it cosmetically elegant)
Texture 🍰: this is a pretty rich cream texture sunscreen. I think its too heavy for my face, but I think that somebody with dry skin or someone who lives in a dry climate would enjoy it.
Finish 🍰: the finish is the only reason I gave this product a low rating. I expected it to not give a white cast because titanium dioxide was the lowest uv filter on the list but it still gave me a white cast. It wasn't as bad as fully mineral sunscreens so I think that people with a lighter skin tone than me can get away with it. But the white cast isn't even the worst part, it's the pilling. It pills like crazy !!! Its unwearable because of how bad it pills. Its also really heavy on my face. I use it as a body sunscreen and for some reason it doesn't pill on my body but it was pilling so bad on my face.
Overall 🍰: i can appreciate this sunscreen because it's a certified medical device meant for people with sun damage. They made it as cosmetically elegant as they could. I don't think I'd repurchase it again just because it pills badly, white cast, too heavy for me, and I feel like I can find a better body sunscreen.
