Because of the formula, it can dry out if you don’t put the lid back on. 

I have been reaching for this highlighter for over four years. I use this every single day as my inner corner, my nose, and cheekbones highlight. I love the super shock consistency and have had a great experience with it. This color is a high shine, champagne color. In my opinion, I don't find that this is too bright or crazy looking.
