I’ve never used a retinol before and I’m scared to actually try one!😳 I’m only 19 and I want to use it because I know it can be very effective against dark spots and PIH but I’m not really sure where to start! 

I would love it if you guys could give me some suggestions on how to use retinol effectively and maybe some good beginner products for acne and PIH 🥰

Edit: There is so much misinformation in the comments here. I have done hours of research on this and it’s sad to see most people don’t know that retinoids have been used for acne for decades. Retin-A was literally made for teenagers until they noticed anti aging benefits. 

It is a myth that teenagers can not use retinoids like tretinoin or adapalene. Most people who stared in their 20s wished they had started earlier.   

I learned most of this from Dr. Dray’s videos and a bunch of other derms so please, don’t go around fear mongering!! 🥰

Retinol For Beginners 😩

Recently, Wishtrend sent me two propolis and honey based products and so far I have been so obsessed with them. 🥰

Propolis can bee 🍯(see what I did there) extremely soothing and nourishing for the skin, not to mention it’s antibacterial properties which can be so helpful for people struggling with acne.🤩 it can calm inflammation while moisturizing and allowing the skin to heal faster.

So far I have seen a huge improvement in my skin’s overall health and i have been less acne prone.

Okay I feel like this is never talked about but, I am a guy which means I have to shave my face quite often. It’s sucks because I feel like I can never do a proper skincare routine after I shave. Everything I put on after I shave stings too much including moisturizer and any serums! Any tips?

I find it a little difficult to find light weight moisturizers for my EXTREMELY oily skin. That being said, I only use gel moisturizers during the day and use a heavier moisturizer at night. Currently I only have a few gel like moisturizers that I love, please add more and give me some suggestions!! <3

Particularly this cult favourite BHA toner can feel a little bit greasy on the skin after application. But Paula’s Choice offers a similar BHA toner without the slippery&#47;greasy feeling in the ‘clear’ line.

This exfoliating toner is a cult favourite and has been one of my personal holy-grails for a long time. It has a lightweight water like and it’s perfect for treating dark spots, dullness, bumpy skin and acne. 

Anyone can use this product however, because BHAs are oil soluble, people with oily, acne prone, and combination skin would benefit the most from it. 

Personally, the results I have seen from this toner have been unmatched by any other skincare product.
I would give this toner a 5&#47;5 stars and I will definitely be repurchasing this!

Can be a little bit difficult to wash off but other than that its a lovely mask ☺️

- When you’ve messed up your skin or your skin has been acting up, this is the mask you choose to press reset.
- This mask has a thick toffee like texture and it’s extremely nourishing for your skin 😩
- 38.7% Natural Honey From Jiri M, S. Korea 🍯
- You can leave this on for close to an hour and your skin will be left feeling moisturized and fed.
- It’s perfect for combo to dry skin types and would be a really good mask to use during winter.
- It smells just like honey and I always have to restrain myself from eating it 😭
- I would repurchase this on sale for sure! 4.5&#47;5 🥰

Unfortunately this product is a little bit sticky and it may pill if you are using many products in the same routine.

This serum is amazing and has so many benefits including:
✨Oil control
✨Reducing redness
✨Fading dark spots and hyperpigmentation 
✨ Reducing sensitivity

Sometimes this product may sting you or it might feel like a gentle tingling. If you have sensitive skin, this is definetly not for you.

I love this product because the results are definetly there! Its a high percentage of glycolic acid however I have never experienced any horrible burning sensations.

☘️What do I dislike?
This toner has an extremely strong perfumery smell and it has added fragrance. Although I don’t mind fragrance in my skincare (I still try to avoid it when I can), it can be a downside for some people with sensitive skin. 


I would give this toner a 4&#47;5 stars!

 Innisfree Intensive Hydration Green Tea Toner
This is the first product I have tried from Innisfree and I am pleasantly surprised! I bought this at the @sephora sale a few months ago, so here’s what I think:

☘️What do I like about it?
This serum is super refreshing and has a water-like texture that makes it perfect for an extra boost of hydration in the summer! It’s loaded with jeju green tea extract which is great for soothing the skin and calming redness while also providing “intense hydration”. 

☘️Who can use this product?
All skin types would benefit from this product. Perfect for an extra dose of hydration in the summer.
