PIH vs PIE

Do you know the difference between PIE and PIH acne marks? Both of these are very common and often associated with acne 🧐 ✨ PIH is more common in darker skin types and PIE is more common in lighter skin types ✨ Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) = brown or black marks caused my melanin ✨ Post Inflammatory Erythema (PIE) = red marks caused by dilated blood vessels ✨Prevention is better than cure for both PIE and PIH - be consistent with sun protection and avoid picking your acne! ✨ Unlike PIH, there's limited OTC topical treatment in managing PIE and clinical procedures (eg: lasers) are more effective ✨ Both of these will improve with time which may take months depending on severity 🌸 If you’re struggling with these acne marks, do not hesitate to speak to your dermatologist about this! Do you have any of these acne marks? What are your tips? 🌸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/COxxGFZn8Jd/?igshid=111co9nps3plm Friday quiz is up!

Thank you so much for the helpful information! I'm currently suffering from some PIH, primarily on my cheeks. I've really loved using Acwell's Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner for helping in brightening my skin and PIH! ❤️

Thanks for this, Doc! My cousin has been struggling with dark spots and I can confirm that it's PIH now.
