Discontinue the cleanser and all exfoliants before you begin adapalene. You may go through a phase of irritation, redness, peeling and sensitivity that may go on for several weeks. if you make it through that and your skin normalizes and you’re not experiencing any irritation you can try re-introducing the cleanser but discontinue use if you have irritation.

Adapalene + exfoliating acids (AHA, BHA) are not recommended to be used together because they are both quite harsh on the skin. Of course, there are people who can tolerate them together without any irritation.
if you do want to use both, I agree with the commenter above. Use adapalene alone and let your skin acclimate to it. Then once you’re ready, you can add the SA cleanser into the same routine. Or you can use them on alternating nights.
good luck! If you’re interested, I’ve attached a guide for how you can incorporate adapalene into your routine. It’s written for tretinoin (a stronger retinoid), but the steps should all be applicable to adapalene as well. ☺️
(sorry, I don’t know how to make the link clickable, but you can find it under “about” in r/tretinoin)
