Post Accutane??

Hey all! I recently went through a course of accutane for 7 months. I’m now 6 months off of it. My skin is SOOO much better, in fact I haven’t had a white head since 9 months ago. My only issue is, before I had oily/combination skin. Now my skin is more normal to dry. I’ve had to drastically change my skincare routine multiple times-for the accutane course and now for my new skin type. Any one have experience with this? Or have product suggestions for normal/dry skin?

A lot of anti acne products may cause drying, such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, etc. Accutane is definitely one of the stronger ones hence your skin changes. My skin also became dryer after a long time from when I'm off accutane. I suggest whatever u use, always have hyaluronic acid either on its own or added high content into toner or serum. U can also consider sleeping masks. They do the magic while u sleep.

I just bought this hyaluranic acid to try! I’m also going to start incorporating a toner into my routine soon, thank you

Oily/Sensitive

Omg I definitely have had this exact same experience! I stopped isotretinoin last April and while my skin wasn’t as dry as when I was on it, it’s a medication that permanently shrinks oil glands, so your skin is expected to be more dry. I have combo skin now instead of oily. Personally, I’m gravitating a lot towards layering hydrating products under a medium weight cream now! I was a little scared at first because I thought I would break out, but my skin can handle the extra hydration and moisture now!

It’s actually quite normal for your skin to become more dry post-acne treatment. I wouldn’t switch around your skincare routine too drastically since large changes in skincare often break you out or irritate your skin, especially since skin is sensitive post-treatment. I’d just focus on gentle products and not do anything too drastic ^^ Try keep the skincare you’ve been using if you can since having ‘Normal-dry’ skin can be quite healthy and isn’t an issue that you have to deal with ^^ congrats on clearing your skin!!
