Glycerin could be halal/kosher or haram/non-kosher depending on its source. Glycerin can be derived from both animal and vegetable sources. In skincare, usually vegetable glycerin or synthetic glycerin is used. You can tell it's from vegetable when you see 'vegetable glycerin' in the ingredient list. Another option is to opt for vegan brands to be safe. Even better if it's halal certified 😂 Although not many brands have that and can be hard to find in certain regions.
Besides that, I also avoid collagen and gelatin in skincare unless it is stated that they use marine (fish) or kosher bovine. I avoid sake and wine extracts as well and pay extra attention to fermented skin care. Some are permissible, some are not.

Fermented skincare is a bit tricky tbh since brands don't typically disclose the source of the ferment. We can only use fermented filtrate that is NOT produced in the same way as the process of making alcoholic drinks such as sake and wine. The only ones I know that are not permissible are the whole Neogen Ferment line and the Hada Labo Kouji range. SK-II and Numbuzin clarified that their fermented products are not made in the alcoholic way so those are okay. I'm not sure about the other fermented/probiotic essences in the market though 😔 For now, as long as you see rice ferment filtrate (sake) in the ingredient list, you should avoid it. You can easily filter this on Picky as well.
