Skincare Home Devices
Can we talk about the devices we own and use at home? I'm 32, so while I do really love my skincare routine and find it to be effective for me, I do have acne scars and am overall getting to the point where topicals aren't enough for me.
Maybe you hate it, maybe you love it. If you own or use any at-home devices please comment below!
The devices I own are:
â˘Boost Decolletage Bib
I don't use this as much as I should. It fits well, despite my short neck, it just fell by the wayside when I received my MyoLift.
â˘ECO Face Mask
This has the same clinical nm output as the Boost Bib. I like that it goes high above the forehead and gets the hairline. It is said to be great for hair growth, same as the Boost masks.
â˘Reduit UNI
I don't use this, but I love it and the results. I just don't think purchasing the pods is sustainable for me, nor is it sustainable for most consumers. I went through them quickly.
â˘MyoLift QT
I really love this device. It offers true microcurrent that the Foreo and NuFace don't produce. It does use an app and bluetooth connection to work, but the new QT Plus can be used offline. I don't use this very regularly, but I notice results after just a couple of sessions. I do way more reps over the areas around my jaw and cheekbone than the app instructs. I use aloe vera gel with it, but I think I'd like to try some other conductive gels.
â˘BoSidin IPL
I love this for hair removal and also for the SR function that uses the red capped filter that attaches with a magnet. It's worked really well on leg hair, arm hair, armpit hair, and for my face. For some reason it works better when I let the hair remain a bit longer, as opposed to shaving it down to nothing. And I feel the SR function really helps heal PIE scarring.

â˘NIRA Skincare Laser
This is the most amazing at-home device I've used thus far. A friend sent me news about the new Lyma Laser, which is amazing . . . and thousands of dollars lol đ
But this NIRA laser is much more affordable and tackles wrinkles too! I have only used it 3 times so far (you can use it twice daily), so 2x yesterday and 1x thusly today. I had a bunch of hormonal acne pop up when I missed a birth control pill. That caused a drastic change in my hormones. I was using our new Instant Pot for the first time and my alarm didn't go off đ
Anyway.
The 1450nm nonablative diode laser has been most researched with positive results for acne scarring as well as active acne, so I went over my eyes for fine lines, milia under my eyes, went over my nose for broken capillaries, and also went over all my scarring and active acne.
----RESULTS!----
I don't know what it does to active acne, but it very significantly shrunk active acne (moreso than acne patches) and has significantly faded scarring! And I'm mostly seeing results from yesterday's 2 sessions! I'm astounded. It also reduced my milia under my eyes, both the number of milia and the size of some of the larger milia! This is milia I've had for months and months (yes, I've used glycolic and retinal with little change).
Although, it seems ablative and non-ablative laser resurfacing can also create milia. So far I'm only seeing a reduction of milia. And the redness around my nose is also reduced, so I believe it's going to be effective for broken capillaries as well!
I was extremely lucky and found this one on Mercari that someone was selling at a huge discount. But knowing how effective it is, I think it's absolutely worth paying full price! You can also find it on sale through Instagram ads and promos they feature on their IG.
â ď¸Caution: if you purchase and go to use this, do start with the lowest setting. You might want to change the setting depending on the area you're treating. I find different areas can be more, or less, sensitive. And you can go over an area more than once, but wait a couple minutes. The heat it generates can cumulate and be painful, so go about the rest of the areas you'd like to do, then go back to an area for another pass.
----------------------------Update 3/6/22------------------------------
I've been reading more studies done with the 1450nm laser and in one article it states that the use of this laser also results in longer term periods of remission, meaning sebaceous glands may be more permanently affected and maintain reduced acne lesions over time, not only temporarily!
*Except for the MyoLift QT, all other devices were purchased on resale for very discounted prices.
