I want to hear your opinion. Do you think niacinamide is really overrated ? And do you think we really need concentrated niacinamide product (typically 10% nicinamide serum or booster) in your routine since I think niacinamide is everywhere - in our moisturiser & toner, even in sunscreen. 

Last but not least, which one would you prefer - 10% niacinamide serum or lower % niacinamide with other brightening or soothing ingredients ? Drop your fav niacinamide serum below !

This is my honest review about these three products (although this video was meant for a competition) 😚


There are three products here (as attached below), mainly formulated with Centella Asiatica 🍃.

As you know, Centella has tonnes of benefits as it contains chemicals that help to tackle some skin issues, especially regarding skin sensitivity and redness, as a result of acne. 

Benefits of Centella :

i) Has wound-healing properties, which beneficial to acne fighters since the acne itself is an inflammation (result of the broken capillaries). Hence this will reduce the redness, also called as post inflammatory erythema (PIE) 🧪

ii) Antioxidant, which helps to retain skin health, fight against free radicals on the skin that will reduce collagen production and hence, causing skin ageing. 👨‍🦳

iii) Increase skin moisture- it helps to stimulate hyaluronic acid synthesis in our skin water 💧 

Brief Review 📃

i) SKIN1004 Centella Toning Toner

- Formulated with 84% Centella, with PHA, that helps to exfoliate dead skin cells gently eveyday ! 🌱
- Texture : Watery, No Fragrance
- Experience: I think I’ve used this toner quite along time, it really helps to reduce redness on my face especially after having breakout.

ii) SKIN1004 100% Centella Ampoule

- Formulated with 100% Centella ! Yes your right ! 🌿
- Texture : Watery, No Fragrance
- Experience: I like to use this ampoule when skin feels dehydrated by applying 3-4 layers of it. Really helps to moisturise my skin!

iii) SKIN2004 Centella Soothing Cream
- Infused with Ceramide to aid in repairing skin barrier, as well as 72% centella ! Also with few plants and herbs extract too soothe the skin 🌳
- Texture : Gel-Cream, No Fragrance, Moisturising enough without greasiness feeling afterwards.
- Experience: In terms of moisturising, I think it delivers adequate moisture needed for my combination to oily skin. Doesn’t feel greasy nor truly matte.

I just used this product and I am really confused on how to layer up this suspension. 

If I have a moisturiser (from dear klairs midnight blue calming cream), facial oil and this suspension, which one I need to use first and follow with ?

Layering The Ordinary : Azelaic Acid

Hi skincare community ! Can you drop your opinion or suggestions on The Ordinary’s serum that help to reduce pigmentation & dark spots. The Ordinary is pretty accessible in my countr, that’s why I prefer from this brand :) 

Attached are examples of product that I know it can help, but I want to know more from you guys !!!

The Ordinary - Hyperpigmentation Serum

I’m still searching for the best acne spot treatment to treat my acne faster - around 2 days at most. Right now, I just used the basic Benzoyl Peroxide 5%. However, sometimes it takes longer time than expected ;)

Can you guys share your holy grail Acne Spot Treatment.

Please patch test first, and don’t use it if you’re beginner in skincare and acids. For first few times, please use it for only 4-5 minutes only. Introduce this slowly to your face. Don’t be too confident in handling this :)

💧Texture : Thick & watery

📝Ingredients : As the product suggests, it contains 30% alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), mainly from glycolic acid, with few proportion of lactic acid, tartaric acid & citric acid, and 2% salicylic acid (BHA). It is also formulated with hyaluronic acid crosspolymer which help to retain moisture, and tasmanian pepperberry which gives soothing effect. 

💫 Experience : I’ll not be bias to the negative side, because this is part of my skincare journey. This product introduces me to what is overexfoliating 😭. It’s not merely about the product or formulation, but it’s because of myself haha, i’m too obsessed with acids when I’m beginner in skincare. So I decided to use it 3-4 times a week and walla! , I suffered from skin sensitivity and redness almost a month. In my opinion, this is not for beginner so please start with something less potent, with low percentage of acids inside. I can’t really say much about how this benefits me since I used it the wrong way. What I can say, you will feel the tingling sensation for few minutes when it is on your face. 

Hmmm I’ve explained earlier I think it does nothing to my skin :)

💧 Texture & Scent : Watery & fast absorbing

📝 Ingredients : Formulated with Niacinamide as the brightening ingredients promoted in this toner. Niacinamide is a vitamin B3, which help in brightening, regulating sebum and calming skin. The confusing part is, this toner contains glycolic acid, a chemical exfoliant. Wardah said (through my DM in their instagram), it contains 5% of glycolic acid. However, they do not tell on their packaging about it. So i don’t know whether to recommend to be used every day or just few times a week. 

✨ Experience : Honestly, I used this toner every day, day & night, and I didn’t experience any irritation nor brightening effect from this toner. Every time I used it, I didn’t experience any tingling sensation. I don’t know this is good or bad things 😅. I used to wear glycolic acid 7% by The Ordinary and it really irritate my skin if I use it too frequently. 

💧 Texture & Scent : Water gel texture, with scent of tangerine.

📝 Ingredients : Using 30% sea buckthorn water that helps in vitalize dull skin. Besides, it is formulated with low percentage of niacinamide and vitamin C (0.1% ethyl ascorbic acid and 0.01% pure ascorbic acid), that helps in skin brightening. It contains combination of fruit extracts that gives decent scent to this gel. Alert for sensitive skin, they used orange peel oil in this gel. It contains sodium hyaluronate and trehalose for skin hydration, as well as , gentle daily exfoliants from PHA and mandelic acid (in low %), which may help the skin tone becomes more even.

💫 Experience : It’s a pure love from an oily skin like me haha ! First of all, I like the cooling sensation from this gel, plus with the tangerine scent which really lift up my mood in doing skincare. It doesn’t leave any greasy feeling and it gives just enough hydration and moisture to my skin. It benefits my combination-to-oily skin well and becomes my daily moisturiser day and night ! I don’t really see any dark spots improvement, but I’m pretty sure that it will compliment with any brightening serum well.

Nothing bad. Just hoping they provide for larger size

💧 Texture & Scent : Watery texture, just like water, and lightweight

📝 Ingredients : They use 4 different types of hyaluronic acid, which have different sizes, to penetrate into different epidermal layers and hydrate them. Besides, it features Panthenol, that helps in wound-healing and hydration as well. 

✨ Experience : This is just perfect to be included in my routine. I really like the texture, fast-absorbing and lightweight. It gives great hydration into my skin. No sticky feeling after applying it. It’s a great toner to kick off with before using serums and moisturiser.

💧 Texture & Scent : No fragrance used. The texture is quite thick. 

📝 Ingredients : As the name suggests, it is formulated with prebiotics such as xylitols. Besides, its second ingredient in the list is niacinamide which help to regulate sebum and aid in brightening. Besides, it contains hyaluronic acid with variety sizes to penetrate into different level of epidermal layers.

✨ Experience : I’ve used a lot of hydrating serum and if I can rate from 1 to 10 in terms of hydration, I can only can give it 5 out of 10. For my dehydrated skin, I need more powerful hydrating product. In terms of affordability, it is very affordable for locals (in Malaysia) and accessible in the drugstore.
