Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm

product review positives
I purchased it at Target for $17.99 (2.3 oz) they also have a trial size for $7.99. It’s the second oil cleansing type product I’ve ever used and was pleasantly surprised with the results compared to the bad experience I had with the first cleansing balm I used. Let’s talk about some of its ingredients first! 🧚🏼‍♀️ Eucalyptus Oil- antibacterial and anti fungal properties & to help retain moisture 🧚🏼‍♀️ Clove Leaf Oil- to help cleanse skin, tighten pores and dry out oil 🧚🏼‍♀️ Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)- to help retain moisture & fight free radicals 🧚🏼‍♀️ Jojoba Seed Oil- used as an emollient to help retain moisture and for product viscosity 🧚🏼‍♀️ Avacado Oil- to hydrate and soothe 🧚🏼‍♀️ Apricot Kernel Oil- emollient & astringent 🧚🏼‍♀️ Marula Oil- humectant (draws moisture in) & emollient 🧚🏼‍♀️ Sesame Seed Oil- emollient 🧚🏼‍♀️ Polyethylene- basically plastic to make it apply and wash off easily It has a minty vanilla spice scent if I had to describe it. I love the way this balm feels when I gently slide my finger across it in the jar to grab some product and when it turns from a balm to an oil on my face. The experience is great; and after I wash it off, my skin feels hydrated and clean (and it doesn’t leave that gross lotion-y feeling that the first balm I used did)
product review negatives
Although this product doesn’t have any artificial fragrance, the eucalyptus, clove, sesame, eugenol, and limonene are all natural fragrances that can be sensitizing. I didn’t notice any irritation, personally, and I have sensitive skin. As far as the smell goes- I never really noticed it when I was using it. It wasn’t until I started seeing other reviews (mostly on Target.com) where people were saying they thought it smelled like Vick’s Vapor rub?! I don’t think so at all- and I feel like that’s quite dramatic considering I didn’t smell it at all until I really tried to stick my nose in it. I haven’t tested this out to remove makeup, so im not sure how it performs with that and it doesnt emulsify very well.
