Dexyane MeD Soothing Repair Cream - Eczema Treatment
This is the HOLY GRAIL product for ECZEMA!
👍🏼 Developed by dermatologists who are experts in eczema research
👍🏼 Does not contain Cortisone
👍🏼 Effective even for the most severe cases
👍🏼 Recommended by Dermatologists
👍🏼 has better results than the heavy steroid pharmaceutical creams with cortisone & urea I was prescribed
ECZEMA is a skin disease that can happen to you anytime even at an older age. I delayed the visit to the dermatologist because it was in the middle of the lockdown and I didn’t want to compromise the health of my parents who were living with me at the time, especially my father who was with cancer! During this time I tried to treat this with a selection of creams for sensitive, dry or atopic skin which I bought from the local pharmacies.
The situation got worse especially on my hands. They were super dry, full of wrinkles, itching, with some blisters, more cuts (wounds) and that awful burning feeling. I couldn’t cook, use any keyboard or even open a bottle of water.
After 3 months I went to the dermatologist. He said that this was dyshidrotic eczema caused mostly due to stress and most times becomes chronic. He prescribed a couple of heavy steroid creams full of cortisone, urea & Vaseline. I saw an improvement of 50-60% only good enough to do some basic things.
Then I discovered this cream. The first time you have to be patient and put A LOT of it, like 1 tube of 100ml within a week. But it worked better than the pharmaceutical creams and it’s a lot safer too. Now my hands are cured, not entirely, but by 90%. My hands are still dry, but nothing extreme, just a couple of wrinkles on the fingertips. The most important is that I’m pain free and able to do all the things I did before. The cream also stops itching almost immediately in every other area (mostly elbows & knees). Now I only need to apply a pea size amount mostly after I wash my hands.
The texture & consistency is rather thick, slowly absorbed as you can expect, but it should not be even mentioned for a product which works better than drugs.
If you take a look at the INCI list you can see that there is NOT something special. Well known humectants like glycerin, propylene glycol, beewax and Occlusives like paraffin.
DUCRAY, the little known brand, is owned by Pierre Fabre, a French pharmaceutical giant which also owns Avene, A-Derma & Klorane. The company’s policy is to accompany each product with a small instruction leaflet as if it was a medicine.
This leaflet mentions the following:
✅ Indicated for treatment of eczema, including atopic eczema, contact eczema & chronic eczema.
✅ Restores the skin barrier & cures dryness with a combination of glycerin, shea butter & triglycerides
✅ Protects skin thanks to the semi occlusive film formed by its formula enriched by polysaccharide
✅ Reduces bacterial infection (probably with zinc oxide)
In fact this could be a medicine. My dermatologist said that it is considered half skincare half medicine. It was developed by dermatologists & scientists specializing in eczema research and the procedure during research & development was the same as other pharmaceutical products (so this means tested on animals ??? 😔😞)
It also shows that some times we get carried out and impressed by fancy or trendy ingredients (fermentation products, biomimetic peptides etc) and we don’t see that most times it’s the FORMULATION THAT MATTERS. Another very well known example of effective skincare with simple formulas are the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume & the Cerave cleansers & moisturizers.
Definitely recommended as an eczema treatment and as a hand cream for severe dryness. I shall repeat that this is a treatment not a cure, these are 2 different things.
👎🏼 Pricey, the 100 ml tube costs 11-13€ which is A LOT for a hand/body cream (outside Europe I’m afraid it would be plus 10€ )
👎🏼 With daily application the 100 ml tube does not last more than 1 month
👎🏼 Not widely available as other French Dermocosmetic brands
👎🏼 Cheap plastic squeeze tube which leaves large amount of product inside when it gets close to empty. I cut the tube in half and the cream remnants last me for another week
