I bought the big size to use on my body as an exfoliator, I’ve never really tried this on my face.
This is light yellow in color, runny lotion texture, and has that distinctive glycolic acid scent. No alcohol, fragrance, or essential oils. It’s spreadable and mixes easily with my regular body lotion. Sometimes I apply it directly on freshly showered skin, sometimes I mix it and lotion on my palms before applying on skin.
It’s recommended to use this slowly, not everyday at first. It’s also okay to dilute it with moisturizer since it’s potent. I’m used to glycolic acid (up to 17%) but still experienced slight stinging on my first use.
As we grow older, our skin turnover rate slows down, and I kind of noticed it when my skin became flaky, bumpy, and drier even if I moisturize daily. Adding an AHA lotion, particularly high percentage glycolic acid lotion, in my routine transformed my skin. It’s not dry anymore, the bumps disappeared, skin is softer and smoother.
I’ve tried a bunch of AHA lotions from different brands. I have my favorites and this, Acne.org AHA+, is not one of them. To be fair, this product does what it’s supposed to do, it exfoliated my skin and kept it soft and smooth, but maybe it’s better suited for facial use. I also thought its texture would be more creamy, not runny. Saying that, I wouldn’t repurchase.
It smells like glycolic acid. I actually like the scent but not everyone does.
